About The Position

We are seeking a Staff-level IT Network Engineer to join our Global Data Center Networking team, based in San Diego, CA (5 days per week). This is a senior, hands-on role responsible for the design and evolution of large-scale, enterprise data center networks supporting mission-critical global services. The ideal candidate brings broad data center networking expertise with strong experience in modern routing architectures (BGP, EVPN) and a solid background in enterprise load balancing, with F5 LTM experience preferred. This role works closely with application, infrastructure, cloud, and security teams to deliver highly available, scalable, and resilient network platforms. This role is not eligible for Qualcomm immigration sponsorship.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of networking with 4+ years of experience in data center networking.
  • Strong hands-on experience with routing protocols, particularly BGP.
  • Experience designing or operating modern data center fabrics (EVPN/VXLAN or similar).
  • Strong understanding of Layer 2/Layer 3 networking and TCP/IP.
  • Experience supporting high-availability, business-critical infrastructure.
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical topics to diverse stakeholders.
  • 5+ years of Networked Systems-related work experience with a Bachelor's degree.
  • OR 7+ years of Networked Systems-related work experience without a Bachelor’s degree.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with enterprise load balancing platforms.
  • Familiarity with L4–L7 traffic management, SSL offload, and health monitoring.
  • Exposure to network automation or scripting tools.
  • Experience operating in global, uptime-sensitive environments.
  • Relevant networking certifications are a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and operate enterprise and global data center network infrastructures.
  • Lead and support routing-based data center architectures, including BGP and EVPN fabrics.
  • Provide technical leadership across routing, switching, high availability, and resiliency design.
  • Support application delivery and load balancing platforms, in large production environments.
  • Partner with application and platform teams to ensure reliable and scalable network connectivity.
  • Troubleshoot complex, cross-domain network and application connectivity issues.
  • Contribute to network standards, best practices, and long-term architecture direction.
  • Mentor engineers and serve as a technical escalation point within the team.
