Requirements

  • Nine or more years of experience in designing and/or operating networks or relevant experience.
  • A degree(s) in information technology, computer science or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient in the administration and support of Aruba Central for handling wireless and wired network device administration and configuration.
  • Knowledgeable and hands-on experience within a multi-vendor network environment including Cisco, Aruba, Palo Alto and Arista devices.
  • Strong expertise in: Layer 2/Layer 3 switching (VLANs, STP, VTP, Port-Channel, and routing protocols such as OSPF/BGP).
  • Direct involvement with network management systems and automation tools using Python, Ansible, or similar scripting/automation frameworks.
  • Experience in an on-call rotation providing 24/7 support for high-priority incidents to critical systems in the utility industry.
  • Validated industry leading certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), HPE Aruba Networking Certified Expert.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure efficient network performance by maintaining core administrative and support functions for LCRA's enterprise network.
  • Design, install, investigate and respond to network problems involving routers, multilayer switches, firewalls, load balancers and wireless access points.
  • Participate in change management procedures when implementing system changes to minimize operational disruption.
  • Maintain detailed documentation for network configurations, mapping, processes and configuration standards.
  • Proactively monitor, analyze and review multi-platform networking environments and implement problem avoidance practices to maintain a high level of reliability and availability.
  • Assist in the development of less experienced members within the team.
