As a Network Engineer SME, a typical day will include the following duties/skills: The ideal candidate is responsible for managing security solutions, basic network monitoring, patch management, and other security tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10+ years’ experience planning, designing, engineering, implementing, testing, configuring, and operating secure global networks using IPSEC and/or OpenVPN technology
  • Experience defining, designing, and implementing multi-layer VOIP networks
  • Experience with both Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent
  • Networking experience (Cisco HW preferred); routers/switches
  • Hands-on experience with IT system monitoring and management tools (e.g. SolarWinds, InterMapper)
  • Thorough understanding of TCP/IP and IP Address Mgmt
  • Practical experience with OpenVPN and IPSEC tunneling
  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and network performance-tuning skills
  • US Citizen
  • Active/current TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance

Responsibilities

  • Consultation on client network topology and requirements.
  • Building, implementing, managing, and maintaining multiple client networks.
  • Developing good engineering best practices and workflows.
  • Managing security solutions, basic network monitoring, patch management, and other security tasks as assigned.
  • Specifying, testing, and operating both hardware and software defined firewalls (Cisco FirePower).
  • Detecting and preventing network intrusions and DNS attacks along with performing network log analysis.
  • Planning network layouts and configuring systems to user environments.
  • Maintaining and configuring network interfaces to routers/switches.
  • Field travel and interfacing with other network operations centers.
  • Configuring, testing, and managing Cisco networking equipment.
  • Analyzing network topologies and traffic and capacity requirements.
  • Communicating effectively with peers and support other team members to highlight and clarify network design components.
