About The Position

Peraton delivers mission-critical network infrastructure solutions in support of the Department of Energy (DOE), ensuring the secure and reliable connectivity that underpins DOE operations across the enterprise. As a Network Engineer on the CBOSS 2.0 program, you will play a hands-on role in the design, implementation, and sustainment of voice, video, and data communications networks supporting DOE mission objectives in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Working alongside senior engineers and government stakeholders, you will apply your technical expertise across Cisco and Juniper platforms to maintain network performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and contribute to a secure and resilient network environment.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) Q clearance
  • Work is on-site with some telework.
  • Must be local (Albuquerque, NM)
  • On call after-hours rotation for operational support
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, and routing protocols including EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco or Juniper networking platforms
  • Foundational knowledge of enterprise wireless networking principles and technologies
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve network issues in a fast-paced operational environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document technical configurations

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting network engineering programs at DOE national laboratories or NNSA facilities
  • Relevant industry certification such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, or JNCIS

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain voice, video, and data communications networks in support of DOE enterprise requirements
  • Configure and support routing and switching infrastructure utilizing Cisco and Juniper technologies across LAN/WAN environments
  • Implement and manage VLANs, routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP), and TCP/IP network configurations to ensure optimal performance and availability
  • Support the deployment and maintenance of enterprise wireless networking solutions, ensuring coverage, performance, and compliance with DOE security standards
  • Monitor network performance and proactively identify, diagnose, and resolve connectivity, performance, and configuration issues across the enterprise network
  • Perform routine network maintenance activities including firmware updates, configuration changes, and hardware replacements in accordance with DOE-approved change management procedures
  • Analyze network issues and apply strong troubleshooting skills to resolve problems efficiently, minimizing impact to mission-critical DOE systems and operations
  • Support network assessments and contribute technical input to capacity planning, modernization initiatives, and architecture improvement efforts
  • Collaborate effectively with senior network engineers, systems administrators, cybersecurity teams, and DOE government stakeholders to support integrated network solutions
  • Support senior engineers and team leads on complex network projects and initiatives, contributing to successful delivery of program objectives
