About The Position

RingCentral is seeking a Network Engineer for their NetOps Infrastructure team. This role is crucial for maintaining the high availability (99.999%) of data centers that handle real-time voice, video, and messaging for global customers. The infrastructure team manages routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers across a worldwide data center footprint. This is a production infrastructure role within a distributed team spanning the US, EU, and India, operating on a 'follow the sun' model with standard business hours, five days a week. Occasional weekend work during planned maintenance is rare. The company is an AI-forward organization, encouraging the use of AI assistants in daily engineering tasks.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience running production networks (ISP, enterprise, or data center).
  • Deep understanding of TCP/IP, including BGP path selection and packet capture analysis.
  • Proficiency in routing and switching (OSPF, iBGP/eBGP, VRFs, PBR, STP/RSTP, VRRP, link aggregation).
  • Experience with tunneling protocols (GRE, IPIP, IPSec).
  • Experience with firewalls (vendor platforms and iptables/firewall).
  • Strong Linux skills, including the network stack (interfaces, routing tables, netfilter, socket state, tcpdump).
  • Sufficient server-side context (bare metal, hypervisors, containers) to troubleshoot beyond the switch port.
  • Hands-on Juniper experience with routing, switching, and security platforms.
  • Experience using AI assistants for engineering work, including prompt scoping, iteration, and validation.
  • Ability to verify information against documentation and lab testing.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot production issues end to end, from routing tables and firewall policies to the Linux network stack on hosts.
  • Handle operational tasks such as firewall access changes, patching, configuration reviews, and capacity checks to maintain high availability.
  • Deliver infrastructure projects including hardware refreshes, platform migrations, and new data center capacity.
  • Collaborate directly with platform and application teams.
  • Support Lab, Stage, and Regression environments alongside production.
