About The Position

As a Network Engineer Level 1 at Independent Software, you will support the design, implementation, and maintenance of network infrastructure supporting mission-critical operations. You will work with Network and System Administrators to monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure systems are operating efficiently and securely. You will assist in maintaining current network environments while contributing to improvements in system performance, automation, and reliability.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, routing, switching)
  • Familiarity with network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls
  • Experience troubleshooting basic network connectivity issues
  • Understanding of network security fundamentals
  • Ability to follow technical procedures and documentation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Network Engineering or a related discipline AND Three (3) years of relevant professional experience providing network engineering support OR Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related discipline and one (1) year of relevant experience OR Four (4) years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification is required
  • Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role
  • This position is contingent on contract award

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to Network Administrators and System Administrators
  • Monitor network performance and assist with troubleshooting connectivity issues
  • Support day-to-day network operations, including routers, switches, and network devices
  • Assist with network configuration, upgrades, and maintenance activities
  • Support network defense operations and basic security practices
  • Contribute to improving system performance and reliability
  • Assist in automating network administration tasks where applicable
  • Support documentation of network configurations and procedures
  • Provide input to network design and architecture efforts
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining network infrastructure
