About The Position

This opportunity resides with Warfare Systems (WS), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. Warfare Systems comprises cyber and mission IT; electronic warfare; and C5ISR systems. HII works within our nation’s intelligence and cyber operations communities to defend our interests in cyberspace and anticipate emerging threats. Our capabilities in cybersecurity, network architecture, reverse engineering, software and hardware development uniquely enable us to support sensitive missions for the U.S. military and federal agency partners. Mission Technologies is searching for an experienced Network Engineer Lead to join our team in Fort Belvoir, VA. HII’s Mission Technologies division is dedicated to delivering cutting-edge solutions that advance national security and defense objectives. This role is part of a current proposal scheduled to start in 2026.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field IT, engineering, or technical field. Additional 4+ years of relevant experience allowed in lieu of degree allowed
  • 10+ years’ experience as a Lead Engineer or leading projects involving the deployment and support of at least 2 of the following information systems/technologies: NIPR, SIPR, Wi-Fi, VMOD, McfA, ISN, AER (Technical Control Facility), DODIN-A, Modern fiberoptic design/testing standards
  • Must meet the minimum credential requirements for the DoD 8140 Cyber Workforce work role Network Operations Specialist (441) at the advanced level: B.S. degree in one of the following fields: Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or Software Engineering
  • CompTIA SecurityX / CASP+
  • Cisco CCNA
  • Cisco CCNP Security
  • ISC2 CCSP
  • GIAC GCED, GCIA, GCLD, GDSA, or GFACT
  • Active TOP SECRET clearance with eligibility for SCI
  • At least 1 of the following advanced networking certifications: Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert, Cisco Certified Design Expert, Government-Approved vendor equivalent will be considered
  • Ability to work on-site as required at Ft. Belvoir, VA during normal business hours.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Standards & Specifications for the DISN Enterprise Network (DISN-EN): Installation Campus Area Network Design & Implementation (ICAN-DI)
  • DevOps certification from Cisco, Microsoft, or an industry-recognized leader in DevOps

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for leading IT/communications site surveys at US Army sites and modernizing these systems.
  • Will collect, collate, analyze, and document the technical and supporting information required to: establish the existing conditions; determine areas that require upgrades to meet the requirements as defined by the program; and develop an engineering and implementation solution.
  • Performing detailed technical site survey functions at remote site locations to assess/analyze site preparedness, develop installation plans, identify necessary GFE, and associated costs.
  • Developing, updating, and revising network documentation to support configuration management as planned or future physical and logical configurations and drawings.
  • Installing, testing, hardening, sustaining, upgrading, and decommissioning Enterprise networking devices, such as switches, routers, firewalls, encryption devices, and cabling infrastructure.
  • Conducting advanced troubleshooting to quickly identify, assess, and resolve issues to an operational state.
