For more information, click here . The Network Engineer III, under direction, serves as a technical lead for network engineering projects or services. Provides technical oversight for the application of and compliance with technical standards. Completes reports and summaries for management and users including project status reports, problem reports, and progress summaries.

Requirements

  • Education - Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience - Five years of related experience.
  • Working knowledge of basic office applications.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and practices
  • Advanced client relations skills.
  • Ability to communicate and work with vendors.
  • Strong adaptability to change.
  • Strong team leadership skills.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with other teams/departments.
  • Physical Requirements Ability to move up to 40 lbs with assistance (network equipment).
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, with possible elevated noise levels and heat.
  • This position is security sensitive
  • This position will require export-control authorization prior to starting employment.
  • This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU policies, regulations, rules and procedures
  • All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and University safety requirements
  • This position may require work beyond the normal office hours and/or work on weekends depending on the project or task.

Nice To Haves

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
  • 5-10 years of IT network experience

Responsibilities

  • Network Operations & Support Provide advanced support for network infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network issues across a variety of systems and environments
  • Partner with the network security team to implement and support network changes
  • Deliver excellent customer service for both routine and complex network needs
  • Project Leadership Lead the design, implementation, and deployment of network infrastructure projects
  • Review and validate network designs to ensure alignment with standards and best practices
  • Coordinate testing and ensure successful delivery of network solutions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, vendors, and stakeholders on project execution
  • Administrative Evaluate new technologies and recommend improvements to enhance network performance and reliability
  • Maintain and improve network documentation, diagrams, and procedures
  • Contribute to process improvements and system optimization initiatives
  • Development and Collaboration Mentor staff and student workers, fostering growth and technical development
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for complex network challenges
