About The Position

The Network Engineer III supports the implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of enterprise network infrastructure for the program. This role ensures reliable connectivity across LAN/WAN environments and collaborates with senior engineers on network design and optimization. The position requires strong networking fundamentals and a hands-on approach to supporting production environments.

Requirements

  • CCNA or JNCIA certification required within 30 days of start
  • Hands-on experience with network design, development, and testing methodologies
  • Understanding of OSI Model and TCP/IP
  • Experience with routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF
  • Network traffic analysis, diagnostics, and troubleshooting skills
  • Firewall experience (Juniper, Fortinet, Palo Alto)
  • Experience with UDP multicast, SONET, MSPP, VLANs, GRE tunnels, and TCP/IP network designs
  • Experience with multi-vendor routing and switching (Cisco, Juniper), WAN optimization, TACLANEs, and optical transport equipment
  • Strong communication skills, including writing and presentation using Microsoft Office tools (PowerPoint, Visio)

Nice To Haves

  • CCNP or JNCIP Certification
  • NSX, vSAN, and Aria Experience
  • Network automation using Ansible
  • Understand standard DOD security practices such as, STIG compliance and system accreditation implementation efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Support implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of enterprise network infrastructure
  • Configure and maintain routers, switches, and firewalls across multi-vendor environments (e.g., Cisco, Juniper)
  • Monitor network performance and availability; identify and resolve connectivity, latency, and packet loss issues
  • Implement and support VLANs, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), and basic network security controls
  • Troubleshoot LAN/WAN network incidents; perform root cause analysis and document resolutions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on network changes, upgrades, and infrastructure projects
  • Travel to remote locations to lead network installations and perform independent troubleshooting
  • Provide status updates to program personnel
  • Support activities outside standard business hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed
  • Perform additional tasks as required by the program
