About The Position

The Network Engineer III is responsible for the design, setup, configuration, and maintenance of all network appliances, including Fortinet routers, Cisco switches, Meraki Switches, Cisco UCS, Palo Alto, Nexus Switches, access points, backups, Cisco VPN, and FMC firewall configuration. This role involves maximizing network performance by troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades, and monitoring, maintaining, installing, and troubleshooting critical network components to ensure network access with limited interruption. The engineer will resolve network issues promptly, provide technical expertise to other IT staff, and plan and implement network security measures. They will also work with internal/external teams to establish/update design principles and standards for network components and configurations, ensuring network documentation remains current. Diligence and persistence in promoting the best options and designing/maintaining the organization's network topology are key. Weekend network assistance may be required for extended work or outages.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in network design, installation, configuration, troubleshooting and monitoring of the following network services: IPsec, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, IPv4
  • 4+ years of combined Cisco Collaboration, VoIP troubleshooting, design, and configuration experience.
  • Strong communications and writing skills.
  • Proficiency in configuring and managing Cisco, Fortinet, Rubrik, Nexis network devices (routers, switches, FMC firewalls, access points)
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, etc.)
  • Experience with wireless networking technologies (Wi-Fi 6, WPA3, etc.)
  • Knowledge of cellular technologies (LTE, 5G) and related equipment (modems, SIM management)
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools (e.g.Wireshark
  • Experience with network security best practices and tools
  • CompTIA Network+ or Security+
  • Certified Wireless Network Professional (CWNP) or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Project management experience is a plus
  • Experience with storage infrastructure and virtualization is a plus that includes iSCSI standard, NAS, and SAN infrastructure and configuration
  • Video surveillance systems and cameras are a plus.
  • Disaster Recovery experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Experience with network architecture for LAN and WAN technologies, including design, development, installation and diagram creation, site surveys
  • Providing weekly updates to senior management and senior staff.

  • Experience with all Cisco network devices, new and old, including wired, wireless, routers, switches, load balancer, firewalls, and VoIP
  • Experience with routing protocols, including TCP/IP, IPv4, and OSI routing framework

  • Experience working with backward compatibility- old and new Cisco devices
  • Responsible for the design, setup, configuration, and maintenance of all Fortinet routers, Cisco switches and other network appliances, Meraki Switches, Cisco UCS, Palo Alto, Nexus Switches and access points, backups, Cisco VPN, and FMC firewall configuration
  • Enforce technical support service levels agreements to meet problem resolution expectations and timeframes.
  • Maximize network performance by troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades.
  • Monitors, maintains, installs and troubleshoots critical components of the network to provide network access with limited interruption; resolves any network issues in a timely and professional manner; provides technical expertise to other IT staff to assist in solving technical network issues.
  • Plan and implement network security measures to protect the organization's data and systems.
  • Works with the internal/external teams to establish/update design principles and standards for all network components and configurations and keeps network documentation current.
  • Diligence and persistence in promoting the best options
  • Design and maintain the organization’s network topology. This results in design documents that are essential for maintaining a functional network environment
  • Weekend network assistance as needed in case of extended work or outages
