About The Position

Our customer is the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and acts as the provider of GIG/Defense Information System Network (DISN) services to its customers, the department of Defense (DoD) and national security organizations. This position directly supports the DISA-provided GIG capabilities and services in the 24x7 DISA Global Operations Center (DGOC). The Leidos Digital Modernization Sector and Global Solutions Management-Operations II (GSMO-II) have an opening in our Space Development Agency (SDA) Operations Support Cell for a Network Engineer at Scott AFB, IL. This position requires U.S. citizenship and an active Secret clearance.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Active Secret clearance
  • Hold DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 baseline certification (Security+ CE or equivalent) prior to start date.
  • Able to work in a 24x7 shift work environment.
  • Must have an active DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Requires working knowledge and understanding of both Transport and IP network topologies.
  • Requires BS degree and 2 – 4 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with less than 2 years of prior relevant experience. (Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.)

Responsibilities

  • Execute network operations to include configuration and analysis of customer circuits across optical and electro-optical multiplexers, Time Division Multiplexing (TDM), routers, and switches.
  • Architect alternate routing strategies and redundancy frameworks to ensure mission continuity during outages or degradation events.
  • Perform advanced systems analysis to evaluate network performance, resiliency, capacity, and scalability.
  • Perform real-time circuit redesign (alternate routing) to restore customer connectivity during scheduled, unscheduled outages, and maintenance actions.
  • Track scheduled outages, informing the SDA community.
  • Work directly with supported customers and engineers across other NOCs to ensure maximum network availability to minimize or eliminate mission and operational impact.
  • Proactively monitor network alarms across platform specific network management tools.
  • Utilize incident management applications to document all aspects of reported outages/degradations, isolations, escalations, and resolutions during the lifecycle of a service impacting network incident.
  • Maintain an offline configuration management database of all SDA site and circuits that traverse the DISN.
  • Assess, identify and recommend resolutions to various network incidents and/or deficiencies leveraging knowledge in one or more of following: routers, switches, crypto devices, Ciena, CISCO, Juniper, MSPP, DWDM, Optical Switching, SONET/SDH, satellite communications.
