The Network Engineer II plays a pivotal role in enhancing network design, optimizing performance, and elevating customer support. They are actively involved in network performance reviews with management, internal partners, and customers, ensuring continuous improvement. By providing technical mentoring and guidance to less experienced engineers, they foster a collaborative and knowledgeable team environment. The role also requires strong technical writing skills, including the creation of Method of Procedures (MOP) and Statements of Work (SOW), as well as the ability to work with cross-functional resources to define and deliver network-based projects. Network Engineers II closely collaborate with team members to guarantee that customer network services remain fully operational, and they offer technical expertise and troubleshooting support for DWDM systems, as well as assisting with—or taking responsibility for—the design and architecture of various projects and features. Their commitment extends to supporting production issues, deployments, maintenances, and escalations outside of regular work hours. Additionally, they participate in Day 2 Support planning and preparation meetings throughout the network deployment process, ensuring projects are executed efficiently and economically. Strong project management skills are essential, although the role may require occasional direction and guidance for specific tasks.
