About The Position

Responsible for developing and deploying plans and designs of network systems that meet the organization’s requirements for performance, security, and compliance. Conduct network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies. They also define monitoring, maintenance, expansion, contingency, and recovery plans and strategies to ensure the network is responsive to changes in demand. Troubleshoot network issues and develop appropriate solutions, resources, and deployment processes. Stay informed of the latest technologies to enhance knowledge of networking hardware, software, and best practices. Work on various types of networks including cloud and edge networks, mobile networks, hosted & local telephony solutions, local-area networks (LAN), wide-area networks (WAN), software defined networks (SDN), and virtual private networks (VPN). Often work closely with a network security engineer, monitoring network infrastructure regularly and applying patches to improve performance and security. They also manage firewalls, antivirus software, and data backups. Works under the guidance of Network III and other IT staff.

Requirements

  • Experience with Cisco campus class switches, routers, AP, WLS, Firewalls, and UCS
  • Experience with Aruba and Palo Alto Networks products and solutions, such as switches, routers, access points, firewalls, SD-WAN, SASE, and Zero Trust.
  • Ability to support, implement, and manage network infrastructure using Aruba and Palo Alto Networks technologies, following best practices and standards.
  • Ability to integrate Aruba and Palo Alto Networks solutions to provide secure, reliable, and scalable network services for the Tahoe Forest District.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve network issues using Aruba and Palo Alto Networks tools and resources.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Aruba and Palo Alto Networks technical support and engineers.
  • Continued understanding and growth with network design, architecture, and optimization.
  • Continued understanding and growth with network security, encryption, and firewall configuration.
  • Continued understanding and growth with network monitoring, analysis, and troubleshooting tools.

  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred or combination of 4+ years of related experience and 6+ years of general computer technical support and configuration experience and 5 or more years relevant experience

Responsibilities

  • Develop and Deploy Network Systems: Create plans and designs for network systems that meet the organization’s requirements for performance, security, and compliance.
  • Conduct Network Architecture Design: Carry out feasibility and cost studies for the network architecture.
  • Define Network Plans: Establish monitoring, maintenance, expansion, contingency, and recovery plans to ensure the network can adapt to changes in demand.
  • Troubleshoot Network Issues: Identify and resolve network issues, developing appropriate solutions, resources, and deployment processes.
  • Stay Informed of Latest Technologies: Keep up-to-date with the latest technologies to enhance knowledge of networking hardware, software, and best practices.
  • Perform Network Maintenance and System Upgrades: This includes service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations.
  • Monitor Performance: Ensure system availability and reliability, and monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning.
  • Provide Support: Offer Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues.
  • Manage Network Security: Implement and manage security measures such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and VPNs.
  • Collaborate with Vendors: Work with vendors to resolve complex network issues.
  • Document Network Processes: Maintain comprehensive documentation of the network infrastructure, including diagrams and procedural information.
  • Conduct Regular Network Tests: Perform regular tests to ensure network performance and security.
  • Manage Network Assets: Keep track of all network devices and software licenses.
  • Provide Training: Train staff on new technologies and procedures.
  • Participate in On-Call Rotation: Be available for emergency response and maintenance.
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure network operations and procedures comply with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Manage Network Projects: Oversee network-related projects from conception to completion.
  • Coordinate with IT Team: Collaborate with other IT team members on network integration with other IT systems.
  • Manage Disaster Recovery: Develop and implement disaster recovery procedures.
  • Optimize Network Performance: Continually assess and improve network performance.
  • Evaluate New Technologies: Assess new networking technologies for potential implementation.
  • Manage Budget: Assist in the development of the IT budget as it relates to networking.
  • Develop Policies: Create network policies and procedures.
  • Manage Telecommunications Infrastructure: Oversee the organization’s telephony systems.
  • Ensure Service Level Agreements (SLAs): Work with vendors to establish SLAs and ensure they are met.
  • Manage Network Capacity: Monitor network usage and manage capacity planning.
  • Implement Redundancy: Ensure network redundancy to prevent downtime.
  • Manage Subnetting: Oversee IP address allocation and subnetting.
  • Ensure Interoperability: Ensure network interoperability with other systems.
  • Manage Change: Oversee network changes to minimize impact on users.
  • Understands the District systems and troubleshoots issues related to the network infrastructure.
  • Installs and maintains the network backbone (cores and switches), wireless infrastructure, wireless security, and VoIP systems.
  • Provides network address assignments, routing protocols and configuration, authentication and authorization protocols, VPN and connectivity to the network.
  • Adheres to HIPAA and other healthcare regulations.
  • Complies with System policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with healthcare, operational and technical vendors to ensure optimized communications pertaining to integrations and feeds (related to network)
  • Other Duties as may be assigned.
