About The Position

XSITE LLC is seeking a mid-level Network Engineer to support the design, documentation, configuration, and testing of Navy network solutions for PMW 160 Future Capabilities. This role will support network architecture development, SD-WAN solution documentation, IP planning, test planning, and technical documentation for DoD network environments. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in client-facing environments, collaborating with Navy, DoD, and federal stakeholders, and producing high-quality technical documentation that supports engineering, testing, and implementation activities. This is a hybrid-site billet located in San Diego, CA. The candidate must be available to attend meetings at the client site, including in classified spaces.

Requirements

  • Minimum of six years of experience supporting the engineering of Information Technology systems for a DoD or Government Agency.
  • Must qualify for a Mid-Level Technical Labor Category, at minimum, under the applicable contract LCAT requirements.
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Physical Science.
  • Active Secret clearance.
  • Three or more years of experience developing technical documentation.
  • Proven experience in client-facing roles requiring engagement and relationship-building with stakeholders across Navy programs, the DoD, or other federal agencies.
  • Experience with SDN and SD-WAN technologies and vendors, including VMware, NSX-T, Cisco, Juniper, and open-source solutions.
  • Experience configuring L2/L3 switches, routers, security appliances, firewalls, NIDS, NIPS, and related network technologies.
  • Experience developing and documenting network topologies.
  • Experience troubleshooting and restoring network and system outages.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies.
  • CCNP certification or equivalent certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Experience with RF communications, specifically MILSATCOM or COMSATCOM technologies.
  • Experience leveraging NetDevOps or DevSecOps practices to scale enterprise-level engineering projects.
  • Experience with network automation using Python, Ansible, NETCONF, and/or RESTCONF.
  • Experience modeling network configurations in JSON, YAML, or Jinja.
  • Experience developing and maturing complex, collaborative networking projects.
  • Ability to work autonomously and move network development efforts forward with minimal oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Develop network topologies and templates based on system and mission requirements.
  • Create and maintain network templates, IP plans, and related engineering documentation.
  • Develop test plans, test documentation, and supporting technical artifacts.
  • Configure and document SD-WAN solutions.
  • Support network configuration for Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches, routers, firewalls, security appliances, NIDS, NIPS, and related technologies.
  • Troubleshoot and support restoration of network and system outages.
  • Support documentation of network architectures, designs, configurations, and implementation plans.
  • Work directly with Navy, DoD, federal, and contractor stakeholders in a client-facing engineering role.
  • Support virtualization and software-defined networking efforts as required.
  • Contribute to the development and maturation of complex collaborative networking projects.
