About The Position

The Network Engineer 3 provides advanced network engineering support across the full lifecycle, including design, implementation, integration, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise and mission networks. This role supports LAN, CAN, and WAN environments and contributes to network architecture development, performance tuning, and secure operations. The engineer ensures compliance with DoD/IC standards, ISO 9000 requirements, and mission-specific dataflow objectives while minimizing downtime and maximizing system performance.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of network engineering experience
  • Bachelor's in a relevant technical field required (Master's may substitute for 2 years; 5 additional years of experience may substitute for degree).
  • Strong background in network design, integration, configuration, and troubleshooting across complex LAN/CAN/WAN environments, including VPNs, firewalls, VoIP, IPSec, GRE, encryption, and traffic optimization.
  • Experience supporting secure DoD/IC environments with knowledge of ISO 9000 standards, network performance optimization, and end-to-end dataflow management.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for all applicants.

  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a security background investigation and polygraph.
  • DOD 8570 Certification
  • This position requires an active Security Clearance with appropriate Polygraph.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, maintain, and upgrade LAN/CAN/WAN network infrastructures.
  • Provide technical input into network and mission architecture design.
  • Configure, test, deploy, and maintain network equipment and services.
  • Optimize network performance by minimizing latency and maximizing throughput using monitoring and analysis tools.
  • Implement network solutions supporting server and mission requirements, including load balancing, VPNs, firewall contexts, traffic shaping, VoIP, GRE tunneling, IPSec, encryption, MoIP, and NAT.
  • Design, integrate, test, and deploy solutions to resolve network issues and improve system performance.
  • Optimize end-to-end system performance and manage dataflow across interconnected systems.
  • Coordinate with system engineering teams, dataflow organizations, and mission partners to ensure efficient operations and mitigate risks.
  • Schedule and execute network conversions, cutovers, and upgrades.
  • Develop algorithms and contribute to R&D efforts supporting networked systems and technologies.
  • Maintain and update network diagrams, documentation, and accreditation artifacts.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9000 standards and DoD/IC regulations.
  • Inspect incoming materials for tampering and report suspected physical security incidents.
  • Immediately report known or suspected COMSEC incidents.
  • Gather and analyze data to define system/component performance and interface requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership, including tasking and oversight of junior engineers.
