About The Position

AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring the cloud runs smoothly. This involves supporting all AWS data centers and the associated equipment. The Global Network Delivery organization is seeking a Network Deployment Planner to join the Planning and Implementation team. This role will focus on scoping and planning capacity scaling projects and new network deployments across multiple data centers, ensuring physical infrastructure resources are available for project execution. The planner will collaborate with infrastructure supply chain & procurement, network engineering, and technical program managers to facilitate smooth capacity execution by local data center installation and deployment technicians. The ideal candidate will have a technology background to understand Amazon data center network architecture, be highly autonomous, detail-oriented, possess strong communication skills, and have experience managing network deployment projects. Competence in networking principles, data center operations, cable infrastructure, and fiber solutions is essential. This position offers a high degree of autonomy to drive network stability and sustainability and contribute to innovative automation and scaling solutions in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of computer networking experience
  • 1+ years of Linux operating systems experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Experience in computer networking
  • Experience working with Linux operating systems
  • Can lift and rack equipment up to 40 pounds
  • Experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and repair

Nice To Haves

  • Can work in cramped spaces or in elevated locations while adhering to health & safety guidelines
  • Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure
  • Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system
  • Experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies
  • Experience working in a data center environment (racking and stacking gear, cable management, hot/cold aisle containment)

Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to timelines.
  • Deliver sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes always with an eye on improvement.
  • Work closely with our Install/Deployment Technicians, Supply Chain & Procurement, Network Engineers and Technical Project Manager teams to ensure fast, smooth delivery of on-demand customer capacity.
  • Knowledge of network cabling and optic types.
  • Experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with common networking terms.
  • Excellent judgement and analytical skills, ability to prioritize tasks based on fluctuating needs.
  • Strong prioritization and time management ability.
  • Coordination of design, project timeline/schedule and construction milestones.
  • Experience in core project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management.
  • Must be well organized and able to work effectively under time pressure.
