The Global Network Delivery organization is seeking a highly motivated Network Deployment Planner to join the Planning and Implementation team within AWS Data Center Delivery. This team focuses on scoping and planning interdependent capacity scaling projects and new network capacity deployments across multiple data center locations, ensuring physical infrastructure resources are available for project execution. The Network Deployment Planner will collaborate with infrastructure supply chain & procurement, network engineering, and technical program managers to plan and deliver customer capacity to local data center installation & deployment technicians for seamless execution. The ideal candidate will have a technology background to understand the complexities of Amazon's data center network architecture, be highly autonomous, detail-oriented, possess strong communication skills, and have experience managing network deployment projects. Competence in networking principles, data center operations, cable infrastructure, and fiber solutions is essential. This position offers a high degree of autonomy with minimal supervision, focusing on driving the stability and sustainability of next-generation networks and developing innovative automation and scaling solutions. Success requires the desire and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • Experience in project management
  • 1+ years of relevant discipline work experience
  • Experience with network hardware: copper and optical fiber cabling, switches, routers

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of data center, critical environment, computer hardware repair, infrastructure cabling, network deployment, or data center operations experience
  • Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system
  • Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure
  • Experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies

Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to timelines.
  • Deliver sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes always with an eye on improvement.
  • Work closely with our Install/Deployment Technicians, Supply Chain & Procurement, Network Engineers and Technical Project Manager teams to ensure fast, smooth delivery of on-demand customer capacity.
  • Knowledge of network cabling and optic types.
  • Experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with common networking terms.
  • Excellent judgement and analytical skills, ability to prioritize tasks based on fluctuating needs.
  • Strong prioritization and time management ability.
  • Coordination of design, project timeline/schedule and construction milestones.
  • Experience in core project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management.
  • Must be well organized and able to work effectively under time pressure.
