About The Position

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. The Network Deployment Project Lead will join the Infrastructure Delivery team and will have end-to-end ownership of medium to large-scale Data Center cabling deployments including migrations, new sites, and new regions. This role involves initial cabling planning, installation, validation, and quality assessment, engaging external contractors, planning with stakeholders to determine device and cabling requirements, scheduling resources, engaging external vendors, continuous status reporting, installation of networking devices, racking and stacking, running and patching fiber cabling, and configuring devices using automation tools and the command line interface. The role also includes validation, device troubleshooting, and stress testing prior to capacity delivery. The position requires working with minimum supervision to assist in the development of innovative ways to automate and scale data center deployments.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of computer networking experience
  • 1+ years of Linux operating systems experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Experience in computer networking
  • Experience working with Linux operating systems
  • Can lift and rack equipment up to 40 pounds
  • Experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and repair

  • Can work in cramped spaces or in elevated locations while adhering to health & safety guidelines
  • Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure
  • Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system
  • Experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies
  • Experience working in a data center environment (racking and stacking gear, cable management, hot/cold aisle containment)

Responsibilities

  • Initial cabling planning, installation, validation, and quality assessment.
  • Engaging external contractors including newly onboarded cabling vendors.
  • Planning and working with a wide range of project stakeholders to determine device and cabling requirements, scheduling resources to meet project timelines, engage external vendors, and continuous status reporting.
  • Installation of, racking and stacking networking devices, running and patching fiber cabling, and configuring devices using automation tools and the command line interface.
  • Validation, device troubleshooting and stress testing prior to capacity delivery.
