About The Position

Teamshares is a major buyer of small businesses, aiming to make employee ownership the future of small businesses. They acquire companies from retiring owners, grant employees a 10% ownership stake, and support their growth with proprietary software, education, financial products, and leadership support. The goal is to build a network of 10,000 employee-owned businesses, creating significant stock wealth for workers and ensuring the continued success of vital small businesses and their communities. The company is seeking an entrepreneurial business leader to serve as the President/CEO of a network company in the Boston, MA, metro area, specializing in the commercial truck and specialty vehicle industry. The President will be responsible for increasing profitability and managing the transition to employee ownership, with full P&L responsibility, business strategy, and operations. They will report to a Teamshares Industry Lead who oversees a portfolio of companies in the sector.

Requirements

  • Industry experience preferred: Background in distribution, an authorized-dealer or OEM-distributor channel, or a comparable capital-goods sales environment is strongly preferred.
  • Sales leadership: Direct experience managing a sales function, including managing commissioned salespeople and formalizing sales operations.
  • Energized by transformation environments: Willing to personally drive change, solve problems at the ground level, and operate hands-on during a period of significant transition.
  • Proven capability to prioritize and delegate tasks based on urgency and impact, ensuring critical issues are addressed efficiently while maintaining a focus on long-term operational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as president of a small business in the commercial truck and specialty vehicle industry
  • Determine and be responsible for all business strategy, operations, and P&L management
  • Lead an experienced team of existing employee owners
  • Drive Revenue Growth: Lead efforts to grow the business through marketing, outreach, and the development of new product lines and accounts.
  • Steward Manufacturer and Channel Partners: Serve as the primary owner of the company's key relationships with manufacturers and channel partners. Maintain and deepen these partnerships and represent the business in partner planning cycles and industry events.
  • Execute Operational Business Objectives: Develop and execute repeatable business processes to achieve key business results. Establish and track key operational metrics and financial outcomes.
  • Collaborate on Financial Decisions: Work closely with Teamshares staff and company-level financial partners to manage ongoing expenses, capital purchases, and growth initiatives.
  • Lead Growth Initiatives: Act as a growth leader, working with employee-owners to improve company operations and expand revenue opportunities.
  • Manage HR and Personnel Matters: Handle HR responsibilities, including staff disputes, employee performance evaluations, job reviews, raises, and bonuses.
  • Relationship management: Invest in your local community, and build strong relationships with customers, vendors, and partners.
  • Transitioning to Employee Ownership: Collaborate with Teamshares and fellow shareholders during the transition to employee ownership, coaching and partnering to instill an owner’s mindset that drives better business outcomes and fosters a positive company culture.
