About The Position

Teamshares is a major buyer of small businesses from retiring owners, aiming to make employee ownership the future of small businesses. They acquire promising companies, grant employees an immediate 10% ownership stake, and provide support through proprietary software, education, financial products, and leadership assistance. Teamshares is building a network of 10,000 employee-owned small businesses, intending to create $10 billion in stock wealth for workers and support business owners' retirement. The company seeks an entrepreneurial business leader to serve as the President/CEO of a specialty industrial distribution company in the Greater Orlando Area. The role involves increasing profitability and transitioning the business to employee ownership, with full P&L responsibility, business strategy, and operations. The President will report to a Teamshares Industry Lead who oversees a portfolio of companies in the sector, acting as a strategic partner for performance improvement.

Requirements

  • A strong background in B2B sales and business development, ideally within specialty distribution, HVAC controls, industrial components, or an adjacent technical field.
  • Demonstrated ability to grow revenue through proactive outreach, customer relationship management, and expanding a company's total addressable market.
  • Willingness to personally drive change, roll up their sleeves on sales activity, and operate hands-on during a period of significant transition, including systems implementations, GAAP compliance, and building structure around a lean, high-performing team.
  • Proven ability to balance maintaining a stable, loyal customer base while simultaneously identifying and pursuing new revenue channels.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, solve problems, and foster constructive collaboration with all employees.
  • Proven people leadership abilities through previous work experiences, with strong interpersonal and communication skills and a low-ego approach.
  • Possess an entrepreneurial spirit with a desire to build and innovate.
  • Proven project management and problem-solving skills, coupled with a humble, hands-on, get-it-done attitude.
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills to oversee company financials and develop effective business strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as president of a small business in the industrial distribution industry.
  • Determine and be responsible for all business strategy, operations, and P&L management.
  • Lead an experienced team of existing employee owners.
  • Serve as a steady operational leader during the transition to the Teamshares model, maintaining continuity for customers, employees, and vendors while building the foundation for long-term growth under new ownership.
  • Lead efforts to grow the business through marketing, outreach, and the development of new product lines and accounts.
  • Develop and execute repeatable business processes to achieve key business results, including documenting existing methods or developing new structures, and establishing and tracking key operational metrics and financial outcomes.
  • Work closely with Teamshares staff and company-level financial partners to manage ongoing expenses, capital purchases, and growth initiatives.
  • Act as a growth leader, working with employee-owners to improve company operations and expand revenue opportunities.
  • Handle HR responsibilities, including staff disputes, employee performance evaluations, job reviews, raises, and bonuses.
  • Invest in the local community and build strong relationships with customers, vendors, and partners.
  • Collaborate with Teamshares and fellow shareholders during the transition to employee ownership, coaching and partnering to instill an owner’s mindset that drives better business outcomes and fosters a positive company culture.
