About The Position

Teamshares is seeking a President to lead the next phase of growth for a longstanding, trailblazing sustainable and fair-trade apparel company in the greater Ann Arbor, Michigan area. This is a strong business with strong, principled people and loyal customers, making high-quality products that honor the environment and the people involved. The company has huge potential to reach a much wider audience, and we are looking for a President with the right experience to make this happen. The ideal fit is strongly aligned with the company's values around transparency and doing right by people and planet. This person must be able to embrace the complexities of how the company does business with its supply chain and others, as this values-driven approach is the core of what differentiates the company and the brand. Importantly, this person should also have hands-on experience growing a D2C brand from single- to double-digit MMs in revenue, ideally with P&L ownership. A strong marketing background is an expectation. The company is in a good place operationally; the focus is on building on what the company already has in place, in partnership with the employee owners, who have a strong sense of accountability. We are looking for someone who is Michigan-based and available to work with the team in person.

Requirements

  • Deep personal commitment to sustainability, fair trade, transparency, and doing right by people and planet—able to authentically represent and advance the company's mission.
  • Demonstrated track record of growing a direct-to-consumer brand from single- to double-digit millions in revenue, ideally with P&L ownership.
  • Proven ability to build brand awareness, deepen customer loyalty, and expand reach for a values-driven consumer product.
  • Ability to engage knowledgeably and confidently with the company's complex, values-driven supply chain relationships.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit with a desire to build, innovate, and operate hands-on in a transformative environment.
  • Demonstrated people leadership abilities with strong interpersonal and communication skills and a low-ego, collaborative approach.
  • Strong analytical skills to oversee company financials and develop effective strategies for sustainable growth.
  • Proven project management skills coupled with a humble, hands-on, get-it-done attitude.
  • Willingness to explore new ideas, learn from mistakes, and innovate continuously.
  • Equally adept at thinking creatively and critically, with a natural bias toward action.
  • Based in Michigan or committed to being on the ground there.

  • Execute Operational Business Objectives by developing and executing repeatable business processes, establishing and tracking key operational metrics and financial outcomes.
  • Collaborate on Financial Decisions with Teamshares staff and company-level financial partners to manage ongoing expenses, capital purchases, and growth initiatives.
