About The Position

Cardinal Technology Systems Corp. is a government IT solutions provider servicing commercial and government initiative in various parts of the United States. We are currently seeking a Network Cabling Technician to work for our company. Eligibility to obtain a U.S. Government PUBLIC TRUST / SECRET / TOP SECRET Clearance. (Basic Federal Clearance requirements are U.S. Citizenship, clear criminal history check, no recent or pending bankruptcies)

Requirements

  • Eligibility to obtain a U.S. Government PUBLIC TRUST / SECRET / TOP SECRET Clearance. (Basic Federal Clearance requirements are U.S. Citizenship, clear criminal history check, no recent or pending bankruptcies)
  • 3–5+ years of professional experience in structured cabling, telecom cabling, or low-voltage installations.
  • Proven experience performing site surveys and creating cabling system designs or installation plans.
  • Proficiency in terminating, testing, and certifying Cat6, fiber, and coax cabling.
  • Hands-on experience using certification tools (Fluke DTX/DSX, OTDR, power meters, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of structured cabling standards (TIA/EIA-568, BICSI).
  • Ability to troubleshoot cable and connectivity issues efficiently.
  • Experience installing racks, patch panels, cable trays, conduits, and related physical infrastructure.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in various physical environments.
  • Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, in ceilings, and other physical work environments.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and documentation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT) or equivalent.
  • BICSI Installer (INST1/INST2) or BICSI Technician (TECH) certification.
  • Experience designing cabling systems for government, data centers, or commercial facilities.
  • Familiarity with basic networking concepts and equipment (switches, patching, cable pathways).

Responsibilities

  • Perform site surveys to assess cabling needs, identify pathways, evaluate existing infrastructure, and determine material and labor requirements.
  • Design structured cabling layouts, including cable routes, termination points, equipment placement, and rack/cabinet configurations.
  • Install, terminate, and test Cat 6, coax, and fiber optic cabling according to industry standards (TIA/EIA).
  • Certify newly installed and existing cables using appropriate testing equipment to verify performance and integrity.
  • Diagnose and repair cabling faults, connectivity issues, and signal loss.
  • Perform routine inspections of network cabling infrastructure to ensure compliance with standards and best practices.
  • Read and interpret cabling diagrams, blueprints, and work orders.
  • Install related infrastructure components such as patch panels, jacks, cable trays, racks, and conduits.
  • Maintain compliance with TIA/EIA, BICSI, and local building code standards.
  • Document all cabling installations, test results, and maintenance activities.
  • Well versed with equipment and technology such as Fluke to trace and certify cabling installs.
