About The Position

Scripps Networks is seeking a Network Broadcast Operator to join their team in Clearwater, FL. This role is responsible for monitoring and ensuring the technical transmission and quality of all broadcast signals, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining operational standards in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment. The operator will also manage playlists, monitor local weather impacts, handle external calls regarding satellite receiver issues, and ensure all on-air equipment is functioning correctly.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong computer skills and be comfortable in a Windows environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint is required.
• Ability to work well under pressure.
• Excellent written and verbal communication/documentation skills.
• Organized and self-motivated.
• Ability to learn all related origination equipment.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
• Ability to troubleshoot minor operational problems.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to work well as part of a team.
• Ability to pro-actively identify problems and troubleshoot before affecting on-air.
• Must have flexible work schedule to work anytime in a 24/7 operation (nights, weekends, holidays).

Responsibilities

• Watch all of SCRIPPS's "Send and Return" signals to ensure technical transmission and quality of broadcast.
• Effectively communicate and troubleshoot all outages/issues per company SOP's.
• Cross-reference logs against on-air playlists to ensure accuracy and timing.
• Modify on-air playlists as needed to ensure setup and execution of on-air elements through automated commands.
• Monitor local weather (re: transmitter adjustments or need for generator).
• Answer, report, and troubleshoot incoming calls from external companies about satellite receiver issues.
• Ensure that all on-air equipment is operational and follow necessary procedures to correct any issues.
• Enforce and adhere to company policies and procedures including corporate guidelines and best practices.
• Other duties as assigned.
