About The Position

Responsible for daily operations and support of network and monitoring systems. The Network Engineering Team is within OSUMC IT Technology Services and Support is committed to assisting The Ohio State University Medical Center (OSUMC) and its patients. Contributes strategic vision and serves as the top-level technical contributor in the planning, architectural design, development and implementation of integrated technology solutions that support and enhance the network infrastructure for the Medical Center. Responsible for the overall design and architecture of the network systems environment. Leads in the engineering, build, installation / configuration, operation, and maintenance of network and related monitoring systems to ensure stability, reliability and acceptable performance. Provides functional and empirical analysis related to the planning, design, installation, and implementation of the network infrastructure. Plans and develops the detailed engineering, design and implementation of the Medical Center’s network environment. Plans and performs upgrades of network systems hardware and support systems in accordance with ITIL best practices. Consults on major initiatives, including multiple departments, service lines, platforms, and various administrative interfaces regarding the integration of network systems technology with overall business/healthcare solutions. Responsible for network systems projects involving high business risk, scope and impact to the organization; leads and facilitates strategic projects involved in evaluating and researching new and existing products, procedures and/or workflows needs associated with network systems for the Medical Center. Acts as a subject matter expert on network systems strategies, procedures, policies, and methodologies. Provides direction and insight to leaders, peers and team members regarding the identification and alignment of strategic network systems requirements with evolving information technology/business opportunities. Recognized across the organization for network systems expertise and sought as a source for resolution of unique or the most complex systems problems.

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science or related field desired, and 6 years of network experience, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Required certifications for hire: VMware VCP-NV or and Cisco CCNA equivalent
  • Required certifications within 6 months of hire: VCAP-NV and Cisco CCNP or equivalent
