About The Position

The NCDOT is seeking an Expert Level Technical Specialist for a 12 month engagement. We are in the process of upgrading the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Network and software for the entire state. We are seeking an expert in Network Design and Configuration who can design and implement a new network for three Traffic Management Centers (TMCs) in the state. Experience with multicasting or CCTV is highly desired. Travel will be required from time to time (about once/week) between Raleigh, Greensboro and Charlotte or field devices. We are looking for someone who possesses strong communication skills, both oral and written, to interact with other areas within the technology division.

Requirements

• College or university graduate with a degree in information technology, engineering, telecommunications, computer science or business administration
• 7 Years Experience in Network Design and Configuration with experience in multicasting
• 7 Years Experience as a Business Analyst
• 7 Years Experience in Intelligent Transportation Devices (traffic cameras and message boards)
• 7 Years Experience working directly with Business Unit personnel
• 7 Years Experience with IT Architecture documents and design
• 7 Years Experience with Microsoft Technologies

Nice To Haves

• Experience with multicasting or CCTV
• IOT deployments
• cellular network deployments
• knowledge of network concepts including, firewalls, VPN, wireless network concepts, remote SCADA device management, and streaming video distribution in a multicast environment.
• Certifications in network design
• experience with implementing changes within a formal change management system
