About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Manager of Technology Operations, the Network and Cybersecurity Engineer is responsible for maintaining the security, reliability, and performance of the College’s network and technology infrastructure. This position plays a critical role in advancing and continuously improving the College’s cybersecurity posture by monitoring threats, managing vulnerabilities, strengthening security controls, responding to incidents, and supporting compliance with institutional policies and industry best practices. The role recommends, implements, and supports network and security solutions to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of college technology resources. In collaboration with other departments, the position also promotes cybersecurity awareness by educating users on security risks and best practices.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Information Technology-related field
  • At least 1-year direct experience with devices such as access points, switches, and routers; and general application support experience.
  • Experience managing multi-layered security solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot network infrastructure, including switches, routers, wireless access points, cameras, and related equipment.
  • Assist with network configuration, upgrades, and capacity planning to ensure reliable and secure operations.
  • Monitor network performance and connectivity, identifying and resolving issues affecting users and systems.
  • Assist with backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes for network and infrastructure systems.
  • Maintain documentation of network configurations, procedures, and operational standards.
  • Monitor and maintain the security of the College’s network, systems, applications, and data using cybersecurity tools, alerts, and established practices.
  • Monitor cybersecurity events, system logs, firewall activity, intrusion detection systems, and network traffic for suspicious activity; investigate issues and escalate or respond as appropriate.
  • Deploy, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot security technologies, including firewalls, endpoint protection, multi-factor authentication, vulnerability management, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Assist with identifying, assessing, and mitigating cybersecurity risks through vulnerability assessments, security patching, remediation efforts, and implementation of security controls.
  • Support cybersecurity audits, compliance activities, incident response, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes while maintaining appropriate documentation.
