About The Position

Our client needs candidates with a strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including routers and protocols. This role requires a Secret clearance and Security+ certification. The position involves supporting various teams that specialize in areas such as Router/Switch, UC/VOIP, LAN/WAN, Cisco and Juniper Routers and Switches, and Satellite communications. The specific responsibilities will align with the candidate's skills and the team's focus. For instance, the TR/IP NOC team provides comprehensive Incident Management for a Wide Area Network (WAN) for DISA in a 24x7 environment, focusing on Layer 2 and Layer 3 support. This includes remote monitoring and management of the WAN using client-provided tools, documenting network outages and service degradations in the TMS Remedy trouble ticketing system, and troubleshooting voice, video, and data circuits. This role also serves as a liaison between the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and the customer. Other teams focus on missions such as the JRSS enterprise system, Enterprise SATCOM Gateway Services (ESGS), Airborne Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance operations support, and the Missile Defense Agency Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Communications Network. Additional services include operational engineering, service activations, performance management, configuration management, administration, and security.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma and 1-3+ yrs of relevant technical discipline; additional related years of experience is accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • Hold DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 baseline certification (Security+ CE or equivalent) prior to start date.
  • Able to work in a shift work environment as we are a 24/7 operation.
  • Experience with one or more of the following: alarm surveillance, fault management, LAN maintenance, performance management.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: routers, switches, crypto devices, routing, DSN/DRSN, GVS, Promina, CISCO, MSPP, Optical Switching.
  • General understanding of network topologies, both transport and IP.
  • Currently possess an active Secret security clearance.
  • Network engineering, Router, Firewall
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, as will have to delivery information to customer at all levels.
  • Able to work in a shift work environment - 24x7 environment

Responsibilities

  • Conduct network incident investigation.
  • Identify and document network errors and solutions.
  • Analyze network and telecommunications alarms and identify potential issues.
  • Configure, test, install, troubleshoot, and maintain network devices such as firewalls, cryptographic devices, and routers to optimize performance and ensure the desired security posture is attained and maintained.
  • Configure, test, install, troubleshoot, and maintain network devices, phone systems, including phone units, voicemail, switches, infrastructure, call manager systems, Video Teleconference (VTC) systems video recording/viewing/distribution systems, and related telecommunications trunk circuits.
  • Configure, test, install, troubleshoot, and maintain network devices.
