About The Position

This role involves working independently to configure and maintain network assets such as switches, load balancers, routers, and firewalls. The administrator will perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, updates, and implement security measures on Cisco, Juniper, and Dell network assets. Key responsibilities include creating and maintaining system documentation, managing configuration and change management efforts, and completing checklists to mitigate cybersecurity controls. The position also assists in global network architecture upgrade projects by providing technical insights, action plans, timelines, and resource availability. Additionally, the role involves implementing recurring security requirements on network devices, coordinating troubleshooting with external partners, and utilizing moderate system administration skills in Linux and Windows environments. Architectural and topology recommendations for efficiency improvements are also expected.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline with 8+ years of overall related experience (additional years of experience may substitute for a degree)
  • Active DoD Top Secret security clearance, with the ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret/SCI
  • At least 3 years of Linux and/or Windows familiarity
  • Current DoD 8140 certification for 441 ‚Äì Network Operations Specialist (Intermediate); most common qualifying certs include: CEH, Security+, SecX, CCNA/CCNP Security (or other qualifying 8140 certs)
  • Current CCNA/CCNP or equivalent certification

Nice To Haves

  • Experience integrating Network Management (NM) and Element Management (EM) systems with network performance, trouble ticketing, and security subsystems
  • Experience with a ticketing system such as BMC Remedy, ServiceNow, or ITSM
  • ITIL v3 Foundation certification
  • Experience working with virtual environments

Responsibilities

  • Works independently to perform configuration of assets including switches, load balancers, routers, and firewalls
  • Performs routine maintenance, troubleshooting, updates, and implements security measures on Cisco, Juniper, and Dell network assets
  • Creates and maintains system documentation, configuration management, and change management efforts accurately and in a timely manner
  • Completes checklists and manages devices to mitigate cybersecurity controls and measures as required
  • Assists in the implementation of global projects for network architecture upgrades by providing technical insight, projected necessary actions, timelines, and resource availability
  • Implements recurring security requirements on network devices
  • Communicates with external partners to coordinate troubleshooting efforts where required
  • Utilizes moderate system administration skills in both Linux and Windows environments to navigate current systems while managing network assets
  • Provides architectural and topology recommendations where efficiencies can be made
