About The Position

The Network Operations Administrator is a hybrid contingent worker role within Technology Operations. The position combines Mission Assurance Center monitoring, observability, incident coordination, and operational support responsibilities with hands-on Network Administration work related to network equipment preparation, deployment, testing, documentation, and maintenance. This role is structured as a 50/50 split between MAC Operations and Network Administration. The position supports corporate, field, operational, application, network, systems, and other business or technical environments, helping ensure that critical technology events are identified, escalated, coordinated, and resolved through documented processes and strong collaboration across support teams. This staff augmentation engagement provides one Network Administrator resource to support Technology Operations while also performing Mission Assurance Center responsibilities. The resource will support operational monitoring, daytime escalation, incident response coordination, playbook execution, network deployment activities, configuration and asset accuracy, and routine network administration work.

  • Three or more years of experience in network administration, network operations, technology operations, infrastructure support, service desk operations, or a related technical function preferred.
  • Experience preparing, configuring, staging, testing, and deploying network equipment preferred.
  • Experience working in an operations center, monitoring center, service desk, field support, or operational support environment preferred.
  • Experience with monitoring, observability, event management, alerting, service management, configuration management, and inventory practices preferred.
  • Experience following documented standards, playbooks, procedures, and cybersecurity processes in a production support environment preferred.

  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Administration, Information Systems, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, technical training, certifications, and relevant work experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Reside in the Mission Assurance Center and monitor enterprise technology environments using dashboards, monitoring platforms, event management tools, and automated alerts.
  • Proactively identify, investigate, and respond to system, network, application, infrastructure, and service issues.
  • Maintain awareness of the overall health and availability of technology services across corporate, field, application, operational, and other business or technical environments.
  • Document incidents, operational events, service interruptions, and related actions in the appropriate service management system.
  • Act as an escalation point for daytime support calls from corporate, field, application, and other business or technical environments.
  • Start incident response calls when service impacting issues require coordinated response across support teams and stakeholders.
  • Perform initial triage, gather relevant details, and coordinate routing or escalation to the appropriate Technology Operations, Application Support, Network, Systems, or other technical support team.
  • Provide timely operational updates during service impacting events, outages, and maintenance activities.
  • Support incident coordination by tracking actions, next steps, and communication needs.
  • Execute approved playbooks and standard operating procedures for support remediation tasks.
  • Perform predefined validation, recovery, monitoring, and operational health checks in accordance with documented procedures.
  • Work with Network, Systems, Application Support, and other technical teams to develop, review, and improve operational playbooks.
  • Identify opportunities to improve documentation, handoffs, monitoring coverage, and operational readiness.
  • Assist with Configuration Management Database reviews and updates to help ensure ownership, relationship, location, asset, and service data remains accurate and current.
  • Support inventory management for Systems and Network teams across site stockrooms and designated storage areas.
  • Help maintain accurate inventory records and coordinate follow up with appropriate technical teams when data gaps or inconsistencies are identified.
  • Prepare equipment for deployment, including receiving equipment, validating inventory, loading approved software and firmware, creating configurations with automation tools, and applying configurations to devices.
  • Configure, stage, and validate network devices in accordance with established standards, procedures, and project requirements.
  • Configure logging, monitoring, management, and administrative tools needed to support deployed network devices.
  • Support network deployment activities associated with technology projects, field initiatives, and operational needs.
  • Manage administrative tasks surrounding device deployment, including populating the CMDB with appropriate asset, location, ownership, and configuration information.
  • Maintain accurate deployment documentation, inventory records, support notes, and operational procedure updates.
  • Coordinate with Network, Systems, Application Support, field support, and other technical teams to ensure asset and configuration data remains current.
  • Conduct device acceptance testing in accordance with IT and OT cybersecurity processes.
  • Test and apply firmware and software updates to network equipment in accordance with approved processes.
  • Support validation of new or updated network device configurations before production deployment.
  • Assist with testing and readiness activities related to network infrastructure changes.
  • Perform routine network maintenance and cleanup activities in coordination with Network Field Engineers.
  • Assist with network related troubleshooting, remediation, and operational support activities.
  • Participate in construction drawing reviews for substation work on technology projects.
  • Support technology implementation projects that require network deployment, validation, documentation, or operational handoff.
