About the job: Job Summary: The network administrator will be responsible for installing, supporting, and maintaining servers or other computer and telephony systems. This role involves planning for and responding to service outages and other problems with effective and timely resolutions. The network administrator will collaborate closely with other Network Administrators, the Help Desk Group, the IT Development Group, the VP Network, the IT Manager, Main Office Support Groups, 3rd Party Vendors, and end-users to provide support for the Bank and Securities entities, including a Trading Floor. Key responsibilities include maintaining configuration management and change control of network infrastructure. Additional duties encompass scripting or light programming, project management for systems-related projects, supervising or training computer operators, and serving as a consultant for computer problems beyond the knowledge of Help Desk Group staff. The Network Administrator must possess a combination of technical skills and responsibility. Scope of Responsibility: Fiscal Responsibility: Makes recommendations concerning the specification, purchasing, training, and deployment of network, telecommunications, and business hardware, software, and services. Employee Interaction: Interacts with other Network Administrators, Help Desk Group, IT Development Group, VP Network, IT Manager, Main Office Support Groups, 3rd Party Vendors, and end-users to meet the network WAN/LAN and applications and communication requirements for BBVA NY. Policy and Procedure Interpretation: Maintains confidentiality of workplace information according to BBVA NY policies and procedures. Operates within established guidelines. Participates in the development of the IT policies and procedures manual, Disaster Recovery manual, and other necessary departmental documentation. Internal Clients/ Contacts: Interacts with employees, programmers, and consultants as needed to respond to requirements for access to network resources. Requires the ability to work independently and with team members to coordinate tasks and resolve anomalies. External Clients/ Contacts: Interacts with IT professionals in related organizations dealing with hardware, software, networking, and telecommunications technologies to facilitate network communications between BBVA NY and those organizations. Interacts with vendor technical support personnel to resolve technical issues related to vendor hardware and software.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 6 years hand-on Network administration experience as described above.
  • Proven experience and success with LAN and WAN implementation and management.
  • Strong technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards.
  • Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles and general network management best practices.
  • Excellent troubleshooting experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent is required.
  • Strong experience and knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems, applications and services (Server, Workstation, SQL, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, etc), Cisco IOS along with networking technology and practices.
  • Must be detail-oriented, flexible, have the ability to adjust and respond to crises, and provide technical expertise for the administration and maintenance of Network infrastructure Systems.
  • Proven technical and project completion skills in addition to the ability to communicate to technical and non-technical users.
  • Demonstrate skill in meeting deadlines within specified time frame.
  • Working technical knowledge of network, PC, and platform operating systems.
  • Strong technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards, including Cisco routers, Catalyst switches, ASA VPN appliances, Palo Alto Firewalls and IDS/IPS services.
  • Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans and diagrams for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery.
  • Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry.
  • Configuration management and change control of network infrastructure.
  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
  • Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
  • Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of telephony systems including Cisco UCS (CallManager) and IPC Unigy PBX and telephone devices a Plus.

Responsibilities

  • Insuring that the network infrastructure is up and running.
  • Responsibility for maintaining Protection and Security: Permissions (Share, Folder, File, etc), Open Ports, Accounts (Domain, Local, Appliances, Services and Applications), Antivirus, Antispam, Anti-Adware, Anti-Malware.
  • Backups of Data and Voice (System State, Docs, SQL, Shadow Copy, Replication, etc).
  • Applying operating system updates, patches, service packs, and configuration changes.
  • Setting Audit logs.
  • Producing reports for Department, Data Security & Audit review.
  • Analyzing system logs and identifying potential issues with computer systems.
  • Introducing and integrating new technologies into existing data center environments.
  • Performing routine audits of systems and software.
  • Installing and configuring new hardware and software.
  • Adding, removing, or updating user account information, resetting passwords, etc.
  • Answering technical queries.
  • Responsibility for documenting the configuration of the system.
  • Troubleshooting any reported problems.
  • System performance tuning.
  • Conduct research and make recommendations on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.
  • Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery.
