Network Administrator

CSBioMilpitas, CA

About The Position

CSBio is seeking a hands-on, multi-faceted IT Infrastructure Specialist to manage the day-to-day technology operations of the company. This role is focused on IT infrastructure rather than software development. The ideal candidate is a generalist comfortable with a wide range of IT tasks in a small-to-mid-size company, from physical network setup to user support. This position is crucial for supporting CSBio's digital transformation, which involves moving over 200 paper-based documents to a centralized data platform and implementing AI-powered automation.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of hands-on IT experience in a small-to-mid-size company environment, with broad exposure across networking, servers, and end-user support.
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP, Mac and Windows OS.
  • Practical experience with managed switches, VLANs, firewalls, and VPN technologies.
  • Comfort with structured cabling — able to pull, terminate, and test ethernet runs without contracting it out.
  • Familiarity with backup software and strategies for both corporate data and standalone instrument PCs.
  • Strong troubleshooting instincts and the patience to support non-technical users in a respectful, plain-English way.
  • Self-directed; comfortable owning problems from start to finish without close supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+ / Security+, Cisco CCNA, or Microsoft Server certifications.
  • Prior experience supporting a manufacturing, laboratory, or pharmaceutical/GMP-regulated environment.
  • Experience with virtualization (Hyper-V, VMware) and Microsoft 365 administration.
  • Familiarity with instrument control PCs — not as a chemist, but in terms of keeping the PCs healthy, networked, and backed up.
  • Basic scripting in PowerShell or batch for routine automation (no formal software development required).
  • Experience supporting ISO 9001 / 21 CFR Part 11 / data-integrity expectations.
  • Interest in or exposure to digital transformation projects — paperless workflows, document management systems, or supporting AI/LLM tooling in a business environment.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, deploy, and troubleshoot site-to-site and client VPN connections.
  • Program and maintain managed network switches (VLANs, port configurations, firmware updates).
  • Pull, terminate, and test ethernet runs for new lab equipment, workstations, and office build-outs.
  • Maintain wireless infrastructure, including access points, controllers, and guest network segregation.
  • Monitor network performance and proactively address bottlenecks or reliability issues.
  • Administer Windows domain environment, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Maintain corporate file servers, application servers, and supporting infrastructure (physical and virtual).
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, security groups, and access controls in line with company policy.
  • Apply patches, updates, and security configurations across servers and endpoints.
  • Implement and verify backup routines for corporate data, file shares, and instrument controller PCs.
  • Coordinate with QA and manufacturing to ensure backups support data integrity and audit-readiness in a regulated (GMP) environment.
  • Maintain documentation of backup schedules, retention policies, and restoration procedures.
  • Periodically test restores to confirm recoverability.
  • Image, configure, and deploy laptops and desktops for new hires, including domain join, software installation, and user account setup.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot networked printers, scanners, and label printers across office and lab areas.
  • Provide responsive, patient helpdesk support to a workforce that is generally not IT-savvy.
  • Manage software licensing, device inventory, and asset tagging.
  • Onboard and offboard employees from a technology standpoint.
  • Respond to ad-hoc IT requests from across the company.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors for ISP, telecom, copier, and specialized IT services.
  • Maintain documentation of network diagrams, server configurations, vendor contacts, and standard operating procedures.
  • Support facility-related IT projects in coordination with Facilities and Engineering teams.
  • Support on-premise deployment of AI/LLM tooling — hardware setup, GPU/server provisioning, network configuration, and ongoing uptime.
  • Provide end-user troubleshooting as staff transition from paper to digital workflows.
  • Assist with the physical scanning and digitization of paper SOPs, batch records, and lab forms — operating scanners, configuring OCR settings, and ensuring scanned files meet quality and naming standards.
