About The Position

PeopleTec is currently seeking a Network Administrator Lead / Senior Network Engineer (Digital Backbone / TSN) to support our Huntsville, AL location. We are supporting the integration, verification, and test of next-generation aviation and mission systems utilizing deterministic Ethernet-based Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN), Time-Triggered Ethernet (TTE) and Digital Backbone (DBB) architectures within Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SWIL) environments. We are seeking engineers who thrive in complex integration environments and are passionate about advancing secure, resilient, and interoperable mission systems for airborne platforms. As a Senior Network Engineer, you will design, integrate, secure, and validate deterministic network infrastructures supporting aviation mission systems, digital engineering environments, and distributed platform integration activities. You will work closely with systems engineering, avionics integration, cybersecurity, and modeling & simulation teams to develop and maintain high-performance network architectures supporting real-time mission communications and platform interoperability.

Requirements

  • 8-12 years of experience in network engineering, network architecture, mission systems integration, or aviation networking environments.
  • Possession of an active DoD 8140/8570-compliant IAT or IAM Level II certification (e.g., Security+, CySA+, or equivalent).
  • Experience with Ethernet networking technologies, including switching, routing, VLANs, QoS, and deterministic networking concepts.
  • Familiarity with Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN), or other real-time/distributed networking technologies.
  • Experience with VMware, Windows Server, Active Directory, Linux administration, and enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting HWIL, SWIL, SIL, or integrated test environments.
  • Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity requirements including RMF, STIG implementation, and ATO support activities.
  • Experience with network analysis and troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark, SolarWinds, or equivalent platforms.
  • Experience with scripting or automation using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar languages.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to produce technical documentation and brief cross-functional teams.
  • Must be willing to travel to technical events and customer locations as needed (estimated 10% per year).
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • An active DoD Secret clearance is required to perform this work. Candidates are required to have an active Secret clearance upon hire, and the ability to maintain this level of clearance during their employment.
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) from an accredited institution.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting aviation, avionics, or mission system integration programs.
  • Possession of an active DoD 8140/8570-compliant IAT or IAM Level III certification (e.g., CISSP, CASP+, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with avionics data bus technologies such as MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429, ARINC 664 (AFDX), CAN Bus, or TSN.
  • Experience with distributed simulation environments utilizing DIS or HLA standards.
  • Experience supporting digital engineering, MBSE, or MOSA-aligned architectures.
  • Familiarity with data analytics, automation, or AI-assisted techniques supporting network monitoring, optimization, and fault analysis.
  • Ability to lead technical discussions and mentor junior engineers within complex integration environments

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement TSN-enabled Digital Backbone (DBB) network infrastructures supporting aviation HWIL/SWIL and System Integration Lab (SIL) environments.
  • Design and maintain deterministic, low-latency, fault-tolerant network architectures utilizing TSN, VLANs, QoS, FRER, and advanced Ethernet technologies.
  • Integrate TSN-enabled mission systems with enterprise IT infrastructure, including VMware, Windows Server, Active Directory, Linux, and Cisco networking environments.
  • Perform network performance analysis and validation activities, including latency, jitter, throughput, synchronization, and resiliency assessments.
  • Support interoperability testing and integration of distributed avionics, mission systems and emerging open architecture standards.
  • Develop and maintain network architectures aligned with MOSA, RMF, STIG, Zero Trust, and DoD cybersecurity requirements.
  • Support HWIL/SWIL/SIL test planning, setup, execution, troubleshooting, and post-test analysis activities.
  • Develop network automation scripts and tooling utilizing Python or similar scripting languages to support configuration management, monitoring, and performance optimization.
  • Support digital engineering and MBSE environments through network integration, virtualization, and infrastructure management activities.
  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams to support system integration, OSVD events, and platform modernization initiatives.
  • Produce technical documentation, network diagrams, procedures, reports, and engineering artifacts supporting integration and test activities.
