About The Position

CS Partners is hiring a full time Network Academic Coach. CS Partners is a premier education service organization dedicated to supporting public charter schools across Michigan. The CS Partners Network Academic Coach will be a highly effective educator who is knowledgeable about curriculum and instruction and is able to increase student learning by fostering instructional excellence throughout the designated buildings. The coach will engage in the delivery of professional development, including learning walks, modeling instructional and assessment strategies, and providing coaching feedback that ensures effective instruction and student learning. This position is semi-remote and requires reimbursable travel to various school sites in Michigan.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education
  • Michigan teaching certification
  • 5 or more years of successful classroom teaching experience
  • Knowledge of Michigan Department of Education core teaching practices
  • Knowledge of adult learning theories and practice
  • Evidence of professional learning and implementation of best practice strategies and/or programs
  • Commitment and willingness to continue learning in the areas of curriculum, assessment, instructional strategies, and learning strategies
  • Proficient with NWEA
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues & cooperatively on a team
  • Demonstrable initiative working independently, in 1:1 settings, and with groups
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Evidence of ability to organize and analyze data (formative, interim, and standardized) to make instructional/implementation decisions
  • Organizational and planning skills for setting short- and long-range goals and for coordinating efforts for timely accomplishment of those goals
  • Knowledge of equitable instructional and assessment practices
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in problem solving
  • Willingness to perform a variety of tasks
  • Ability to deliver actionable feedback that promotes change
  • Ability to build positive relationships with school leadership and staff.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of graduate work in curriculum and instruction and evidence of implementation
  • Secondary teaching or instructional coaching experience
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction at multiple grade levels

Responsibilities

  • Conducts weekly/bi-weekly learning walks and coaching cycles, classroom modeling and collaborative planning with designated teachers, and provides feedback on the implementation of instruction
  • Assists with the gathering, examination, and analysis of formative and summative assessment data to identify learning opportunities for individual students and groups of students.
  • Consults with instructional leadership team members and district staff who are responsible for student learning outcomes.
  • Assists district staff with the gathering, examination, and analysis of formative and summative implementation data to identify opportunities for individual teachers and groups of teachers.
  • Provides academic coaching that is responsive to the identified needs of staff.
  • Assists in professional development utilizing the Michigan Department of Education core teaching practices, including follow-up learning walks in the classrooms.
  • Keeps current on research-based instructional strategies and best practices with an emphasis on student engagement and learning.
  • Shares learning walk and coaching data with the school performance team.
  • Provides professional development, as needed and requested by the Director of Teaching & Learning, SVP of SPT, and/or School Performance Team.
  • Completes other duties as assigned
