About The Position

Join a high-performing neonatology team committed to clinical excellence, transparency, and family-centered care. As a Neonatologist Hospitalist, you will serve as the attending physician overseeing the care of neonates in Level II and Level III NICUs while collaborating closely with experienced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNPs) and Neonatal Physician Assistants (NPAs). Your days will include managing complex neonatal cases, coordinating multidisciplinary care plans, supporting families through critical clinical decisions, and ensuring evidence-based treatment approaches. You will lead clinical decision-making while working within a physician-led team model that values collaboration, autonomy, and shared accountability. Beyond direct patient care, you'll play an active role in quality improvement initiatives, protocol development, patient safety efforts, and operational growth. Requirements

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neonatology
  • Completion of an accredited Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine fellowship
  • Eligible for or able to obtain Arizona medical licensure
  • DEA registration or ability to obtain
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications, or ability to obtain prior to start

Nice To Haves

  • Experience practicing in Level II and/or Level III NICUs
  • Prior experience working within physician-APP collaborative care models
  • Participation in quality improvement initiatives
  • Leadership, committee, or program development experience
  • Interest in education, mentorship, or research activities

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive medical care to neonates in Level II and Level III NICUs
  • Serve as the attending physician responsible for clinical oversight and patient management
  • Develop and coordinate individualized treatment plans
  • Collaborate closely with NNPs, NPAs, nursing teams, and consulting specialists
  • Supervise and mentor advanced practice providers
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and care planning
  • Lead and contribute to quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
  • Assist with protocol development and implementation
  • Educate staff, trainees, and families on neonatal care best practices
  • Support program development and operational improvement efforts
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Promote evidence-based practice and continuous clinical excellence
