About The Position

The Clinical Transport Nurse provides professional nursing care through high-quality assessment, triage, and treatment to determine the nature and extent of a patient's illness or injury and prioritize needed care. The nurse delivers comprehensive nursing care through assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Patients may be intubated, ventilated, or hemodynamically unstable. The role includes invasive procedures and hemodynamic management of critically ill patients, managing ventilator settings and vasopressors, and resolving complex clinical challenges. The nurse cares for patients of all ages, from neonatal to geriatric, operates specialized medical equipment, and uses advanced clinical skills. The Clinical Transport Nurse works autonomously outside the hospital under standards and protocols approved by the Medical Director and established by the North Carolina Board of Nursing, North Carolina Offices of Emergency Services, and South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. The nurse performs advanced procedures to improve patient outcomes and follows the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses. The position requires operational knowledge of ambulances, helicopters, and airplanes, aviation training, and meeting FAA Part 135 requirements for flight crew members, including use of night vision goggles. Nurses transport and monitor patients requiring advanced support and devices, and must manage equipment challenges and failures without hospital resources. The role involves critical decision-making in changing conditions, including accident scenes and other hazardous environments, disasters, inclement weather, biohazards, and highly infectious patient situations. Disaster deployments may last for extended periods. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position with a 7 p.m.–7 a.m. night schedule and 40 hours per week. The listed pay range is $41.10–$61.65.
