About The Position

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) RN will provide nursing services in support of Walter Reed Nathional Medical Center, Bethesda MD. The role requires a registered nurse with at least two years of concurrent full-time Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience within the last three years. The nurse must maintain qualifications and skills of a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse, with skills verified by the contracting clinical manager. Prior to performing independent patient care, the contract RN must successfully complete mandatory training, including a Neonatal Medication Test, Initial Unit Orientation within the first three scheduled shifts, and Full Competency Verification within sixty days of the unit start date, demonstrating proficiency in high-acuity skills, procedures, and complex care scenarios.

Requirements

• Degree/Education: Earn a Diploma (AD or BSN) from an accredited school of Nursing.
• RN with a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
• Must have BLS, S.T.A.B.L.E, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) renewed every 2 years.
• Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse.
• Possess at least two years of concurrent full-time Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience within the last three years.
• Maintain qualifications and skills of a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse.
• Skills must be verified by the contracting clinical manager.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Successfully pass the MTF's neonatal medication administration exam/competency.
• Complete Initial Unit Orientation within the first three (3) scheduled shifts.
• Complete and document the comprehensive, final unit-specific competency skills checklist within sixty (60) days of the employee's unit start date.
