About The Position

The NDE Technician performs NDT on welds and components based on requests initiated by Production, QC or Engineering and approved by the NDE Supervisor. This position ensures that specifications, class rules, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions are followed and met at each stage of construction. The successful candidate will carry out daily in-process or final NDE inspections to identify non-conformities with contract requirements, help develop corrective actions, and communicate requirements to shop personnel. This role may also be required to support the afternoon or graveyard shift team and/or assist with NDT coordination as needed. The NDE Technician works closely with the NDE Coordinator and reports directly to the NDE Supervisor. This position is required to be fully on-site based at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver. This is a 24 months limited term employment with eligible benefits and 15 days of vacation.

Requirements

  • Current valid CGSB Level II MT and RT certification is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working as an NDE Technician in structural and piping applications.
  • Detailed understanding of the fabrication, installation, commissioning, and testing of trade-specific systems.
  • Solid understanding of quality control and inspection procedures.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret manufacturing and shop drawings.
  • Proven ability to develop Quality Plans and Inspection and Test Plans.
  • Strong technical skills, including knowledge of quality techniques and their practical application.
  • Technical understanding of common NDT methods and their application to meet contract, regulatory, and statutory requirements for trade-specific systems.
  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Strong customer service focus.
  • Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and integrity.
  • Strong digital literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Ability to obtain Industrial Security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • UT and PT CGSB Level II certifications are considered an asset.
  • CWB CSA W178.2 Level 1 or 2 Welding Inspector certification, or AWS CWI with the ability to obtain CWB certification, is considered an asset.
  • Relevant trade experience is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily in-process and final NDE inspections, documenting and communicating results to the responsible supervisors.
  • Review NDT requests and results to ensure specifications, class rules, work instructions, and SOP requirements have been met for each inspection.
  • Ensure non-destructive testing is completed in accordance with approved procedures, the NDT plan, and QC/Engineering requirements.
  • Attend formal inspections with customers and regulatory bodies when required, documenting non-conformities and communicating results to responsible supervisors and the Quality Department.
  • Work with trade and area supervisors/managers to improve in-process quality.
  • Perform gap analyses of work instructions and SOPs for trade-specific systems, communicate findings to the respective area, and assist with revising or developing work instructions and SOPs as required.
  • Conduct periodic supplier audits to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
