About The Position

Performs fluorescent penetrant processing of investment castings. FPI processes product through degrease parts cleaning and processes parts through FPI processing line. Must be able to follow FPI general standard procedures. Must pass eye exam and have 20/25 Snellen in at least one eye. Processes parts per instructions on parts specific technique sheets in accordance with customer's processing requirements. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Performs fluorescent penetrant processing of investment castings. Must be able to follow FPI general standard procedures. Must pass eye exam and have 20/25 Snellen in at least one eye. Selects work to be inspected by supervisor's instructions and loads parts into basket on conveyor. Checks to make sure previous paperwork has been completed and signed off and ensures that paperwork matches parts to be inspected.Inspect parts according to the IMRS. (Accept or Reject) Checks technique book for process procedure to follow for specific parts. Degrease, clean , and thoroughly dry parts to the required degrease procedure. Checks to make sure previous paperwork has been completed and signed off and ensures that paperwork matches parts to be inspected. Dips parts basket into penetrant. Following dwell time, washes parts with water and emulsifier as per instructions on technique sheets. Lifts basket with hoist and moves down conveyor placing basket in dryer. Turns on dryer for period of time specified in technique sheets. Following drying cycle, place parts in the developer for the required technique time. Remove parts from developer, Tag parts with “time into the developer time tags” to monitor maximum allowed developer dwell per technique instructions. Post clean degrease parts after Level II interpretation has been completed. Places parts on rack and moves to next work station per instructions on routing sheet. Keeping up with 6 s cleaning and maintenance of the FPI equipment and processing lines. Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent in life experience.
  • 16 hours of formal classroom training to Chromalloy Castings GSP QD-001 FPI Level I Training Outlines or at least equivalent.
  • 130 hours of documented OJT (Work Experience) in Penetrant testing.
  • Must be certifiable to NAS 410 Level I PT.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must pass eye exam and have 20/25 Snellen in at least one eye.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally move up to 100 pounds with the assistance of hoists or equipment designed for that purpose or with the assistance of other personnel as needed.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job are defined by NAS 410 and include close vision, the ability to distinguish between colors.
