About The Position

We are seeking a NDT Level III RT/DR/UT/PT, Quality Engineer to join our team in Canoga Park, California. This role involves reviewing supplier-submitted NDT technique sheets, managing the site NDT supply base, providing training, developing NDT techniques, writing specifications, supporting review boards, preparing for audits, leading corrective action reviews, maintaining certifications, participating in the direction of the NDT department, and auditing quality systems and processes. The position requires responding to customer needs and may include weekend work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Proficiency with a variety of NDT inspection techniques and equipment along with a working knowledge of blueprint reading and interpretation is required.
  • Knowledge of industry NDT standards (ex. NAS410, ASTM 1742, ASTM 1417, ASTM 1444, AMS-STD-2154, etc...) is required.
  • Meet requirements of NAS-410.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Strong computer and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • NDT LVL III RT (Radiography), DR (Digital Radiography), UT (Ultrasonic), or PT (Penetrant) certifications.
  • Direct experience with the testing of Aerospace Metallic products
  • Level 3 ASNT Certification and/ or currently active NAS410 Level III certifications
  • Hands-on working experience in a manufacturing environment and a corresponding understanding of manufacturing processes is essential.
  • Experience with auditing practices and Process Certification is desired.
  • Auditing experience/certification desired.

Responsibilities

  • Review supplier-submitted NDT technique sheets for compliance to AR-Los Angeles specifications and drawing requirements. Coordinate with suppliers on the development and approval of these technique sheets. Prepare necessary reports.
  • Manage site NDT supply base by monitoring suppliers to ensure flow down of AR requirements to sub-tier suppliers, audit existing NDT suppliers and assess potential new NDT suppliers for their ability to meet site requirements.
  • Review process specifications, in-house technique sheets, etc.
  • Provide training and testing to L I and L II.
  • Develop, review and approve NDT techniques with L II personnel.
  • Write, review and approve specifications pertinent to NDT.
  • Support review boards for inspectability of product.
  • Prepare NDT for customer and internal audits.
  • Develop and Lead Corrective action reviews on audit/NCR findings.
  • Maintain own L III certifications.
  • Participate in the direction of the NDT department.
  • Audit and surveillance of quality systems and processes.
  • Respond to customer needs.
  • May include weekend work.
