About The Position

The NDE Technician performs calibrations, nondestructive tests, and evaluations to determine acceptance or rejection according to written instructions and records the results. Level II Technicians are qualified to set up and calibrate equipment and to interpret and evaluate results against applicable codes, standards, and specifications. They are thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the NDT method in use, organize and report test results, and provide on-the-job training and guidance to Assistants and Level I Technicians.

Requirements

  • Required NDT Level II RT certification with OJT hours and state card.
  • Technical background in NDT methods and procedures.
  • Knowledge of NDT equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform assigned NDT tasks and interpret inspection results.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • NDT Level II certification in MT, PT, and UTT.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and calibrate nondestructive testing equipment.
  • Conduct tests using NDT methods of inspection to ensure quality and detect discontinuities (defects).
  • Establish techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, with strict adherence to safety regulations.
  • Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards and evaluate results.
  • Interpret radiographs, cathode ray tube (CRT) or digital readouts, conductivity meters, and visual indicators.
  • Organize and report test results.
  • Perform specialized inspections.
  • Instruct and supervise others as needed.
  • Perform other job-related tasks assigned by management.
