NCCER & OSHA Instructor (Central Region): Central Administration #ED067
About The Position
This position will be based out of Headquarters in Richmond, VA but will travel within the Central Region to various Workcenter's, c-caps and correctional institutions. The role is to provide quality educational programs to enable incarcerated youth and adults to become responsible, productive, tax-paying members of their community. The instructor will provide effective Career and Technical instruction in the assigned trade area, assist assigned students to complete the required competencies for that trade area, demonstrate effective classroom or lab management, ensure that the lab is operated in compliance with all aspects of safety management, and maintain accurate and current students records for the assigned student.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least two years' full time or 2000 hours of verifiable experience in the last 5 years in the relevant field/trade area for a teaching certificate.
- Eligible for an Industrial/Technical Professional License/Certification in the relevant trade area/field.
- Eligible for a teaching certificate by the Department of Education.
- Ability to engage students in one-on-one teaching and work with students and inmate aides in a classroom/Lab environment.
- Ability to maintain accurate records.
- Knowledge and experience of policy and procedure governing adult education.
- Working knowledge of basic adult education field, adult literacy, and computer software appropriate for program needs.
- Experience in maintaining classroom, equipment, and inventories.
- Demonstrate competency in the related field of current trade licensure.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in correctional education classroom management.
- Five years' experience in the related trade/field.
- Must have an Industrial/Technical Professional License/Certification in the relevant trade area/field.
- Must have a teaching certificate by the Department of Education.
- Knowledge of all phases of the trade area.
- Ability to supervise adult inmates in a classroom/lab environment.
- Knowledge and experience in correctional education classroom management.
- Ability to facilitate other instructors.
- Knowledge of the DOC institutional policies and procedures and policies governing correctional education.
Responsibilities
