About The Position

The NC Programmer is responsible for writing new CNC programs and setup instructions, estimating work, and making changes to existing CNC programs. The role develops, writes, and maintains NC programs for complex aerospace components using engineering models, drawings, and specifications to support zero-defect machining operations. The programmer selects routines to achieve efficient machining methods for each part and participates in new-technology prove-out, first article inspection, fixture design, and day-to-day programming using Siemens NX12 CAM or Master-CAM.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 6 years of relevant Manufacturing Engineering experience; or a graduate degree and at least 4 years of related experience; or, in lieu of a degree, at least 10 years of related Manufacturing Engineering experience.
  • Experience with Siemens NX12 or NX1992 NC programming.

Nice To Haves

  • Master-CAM NC programming experience.
  • Expertise in lathe, mill-turn, and 5-axis mill programming of high-temperature alloy materials.
  • Vericut experience.
  • Experience with Mazak machine tools.

  • NX Machine Tool Configurator expertise.
  • Fanuc custom macro programming expertise.
  • Siemens 840D macro programming expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze engineering models and drawings to define machining-operation sequences that meet design intent and component-quality requirements.
  • Use Vericut machine simulation and optimization software to troubleshoot and validate CNC programs and support efficient, defect-free first-time-through machining processes.
  • Modify existing part programs for engineering changes or program improvements.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools based on factors such as material, speeds, cutter type, feeds, and control-system limitations.
  • Work closely with machinists, Quality, Engineering, Management, and other team members.
  • Develop, write, and maintain Type II probe and logic macros for on-machine touch-probe measurement, fixture updates, cutter-offset updates, and part-feature data collection.
  • Participate in knowledge sharing and cross-training within the NC programming group.
  • Write new CNC programs and setup instructions, estimate work, and make changes to existing programs.
