About The Position

The Salvation Army, Syracuse Area Services is expanding its NY State of Health Navigator Program and is seeking a Full-Time Navigator to join their team. This position is Full-Time, 35 hours per week, Non-Exempt, $23.00-$23.50/hour with access to comprehensive benefit offerings after a 90-day orientation period. The role of a Navigator is to assist individuals in completing the enrollment process for affordable Health Insurance through the NY State of Health. This involves meeting with families and individuals in person, conducting interviews/assessments, and helping them enroll in the most affordable Health Insurance for their personal needs. This position requires travel within the community to meet with clients.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 1-2 years of office experience by work or internship.
  • Strong Computer Skills to include Excel, MS Word & Outlook
  • Administrative skills
  • A valid NYS Driver License
  • Access to Private Transportation, This position can require the employee to drive to various locations throughout their scheduled work day.
  • Some flexibility for evening/weekend events
  • Ability to multi-task by completing more than one task at a time

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree, preferred
  • Bilingual, verbal and written a plus!

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals, families, and businesses with enrolling in health insurance through the NY State of Health Marketplace, including applications, documentation, plan selection, and follow-up support.
  • Represent the program at outreach events throughout Onondaga County, including health fairs, schools, churches, and community events.
  • Attend required trainings and meetings for The Salvation Army and the NY State of Health.
  • Provide support to other Practical Assistance programs as needed.
  • Promote culturally responsive services while supporting the mission and strategic goals of The Salvation Army, Syracuse Area Services.
