About The Position

Serve as a navigator and advisor for prospective and current ESL students. This role includes career counseling, goal-setting, assisting students in navigating adult education and higher education systems and processes, and introducing students to SCC programs of potential interest. The position also involves assisting with the scheduling, planning, and conducting of ESL orientations, supervising the testing team, and aiding with student intakes, testing, orientations, and class registration. Additionally, the role supports the planning and development of marketing, public relations, and promotional materials, as well as recruitment and community education for the program and College services. The Navigator will also serve as a Member of the Adult Education Team, attending meetings, contributing constructively, communicating respectfully, and exercising professionalism and teamwork. A key aspect of the role is to promote a Culture of Belonging by supporting an environment where all students, faculty, and employees feel welcomed, valued, and empowered, fostering a community that enriches the educational experience and creates a safe and respectful environment. The position requires supporting the College’s policies and programming related to access, fair employment, and equal opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, or a directly related field.
  • One (1) year of experience in teaching and program management/coordination.
  • One (1) year of experience working with non-native English language learners.
  • OR Associate’s degree plus two (2) or more years’ experience in teaching or working with non-native English language learners.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in recruitment and community education of the program and services provided by the program and the College.
