About The Position

Fugro USA Marine, Inc. is seeking a Navigation Engineer to perform maintenance, repair, and installation of electronic and survey-related equipment. This role involves working under supervision, ensuring adherence to company HSE and QA systems, and fostering a teamwork culture. The engineer will install hardware, firmware, and software onto client vessels, interface with client equipment, and work offshore from floating vessels. Responsibilities include repairing field equipment to a chip level, providing remote technical support, and being on-call when required. The equipment includes navigation systems (GPS, DGPS), heading sensors, heave compensators, acoustic navigation systems, and associated computer systems and software. The role also involves technical liaison with project managers, field crews, clients, and other offices, preparing and testing equipment for mobilization, and maintaining the company asset control system. The engineer will also maintain and develop Quality Assurance procedures, participate in the company's safety program, and ensure the quality of their work and personal safety, as well as the safety of co-workers and equipment. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Geomatics, Electronics engineering or similar technical field of study.
  • 24 months of experience in field surveying, working with computers and conducting electronic repairs, GPS/GNSS equipment and theory.
  • HSSE certificate for working offshore.
  • Must have valid U.S. driver license.
  • Hold or be eligible to obtain TWIC card.

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance, repair and installation of electronic and survey-related equipment through use of test equipment, product specifications, and standard diagnostic procedures.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in conformance with the company's HSE and QA systems.
  • Foster a teamwork culture within the designated areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure that any inter-office operational problems are discussed and rectified.
  • Provide feedback to line managers on resources, morale, personnel issues and the general status of areas of responsibility.
  • Make recommendations on changes to the business to the management.
  • Installation of equipment onto clients' vessels including hardware, firmware and software together with interfacing to client-owned equipment.
  • Work offshore from a floating vessel.
  • Repair and maintenance of field equipment, according to procedures, to chip level where possible.
  • Provide remote technical support to clients and provide on-call support services when required.
  • Technical liaison with project managers, field crews, clients, and other offices during the course of a contract.
  • Preparation and test of equipment for contract mobilization and identification of shortfalls in equipment levels.
  • Maintenance of the company asset control system with specific respect to equipment maintenance.
  • Maintain and develop Quality Assurance procedures relating to engineering tasks and take part in the company's safety program.
  • Employee is responsible for the quality of work performed along with personal safety, co-workers' safety and the care and maintenance of equipment.
  • Observe and follow all company safety rules and procedures.
  • Support and encourage continuous improvement of the company's processes, including safety program and quality management system.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
