About The Position

Precise Systems is seeking an experienced Naval Structures Engineer Level II to join their team supporting inspection efforts for the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division (NSWCCD). This role requires in-person support. The engineer will conduct structural design, modification, and analysis of naval and commercial ship platforms, providing results and summary documentation of technical work. They will design and assess primary and secondary ship structural members and components against primary and operational loads, including hull assessments against ultimate strength, progressive collapse, and other novel secondary loadings in accordance with applicable naval or commercial design guidance. The role also involves designing and analyzing advanced/specialized ship structural members and components for various vessel types, including monohull ships, multi-hull ships, arctic vessels, and unmanned surface vehicles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.
  • Two (2) years of relevant experience evaluating structures.
  • Ability to conduct structural analyses including closed forms structural calculations, drawing reviews, and failure assessments, numerical analysis, and experimental investigations of existing and concept designs.
  • Able to evaluate structural components and consider/identify alternate structural configurations.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
