About The Position

Amentum is actively seeking a Naval Architect/Structural Engineer with three or more years of experience to work onsite in Code 241/242 at Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) in Norfolk, VA. This role involves providing technical assistance, assessment, and corrective actions. The engineer will conduct inspections and assessments of current ship conditions to determine a way forward for corrections. They will also be responsible for answering Engineering Service Requests (ESR) and Departures from Specification (Client) when applicable. A critical requirement is the completion of specific certification courses within 8 months of hire, including NAVSEA Basic Paint Inspector, NACE level 1, NACE level 2, NAVSEA Cableway Inspections, and Shipboard Corrosion Assessment Training.

Requirements

BS in Structural Engineering or Naval Architecture from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) school. Mechanical Engineering degree will be accepted if there is a background in structural analysis or naval architecture.
Experience in the assessment, repair, and maintenance of structure on US Naval ships.
Minimum of three (3) years specialized hands-on experience working and inspecting ship structures, material, knowledge of welding and preservation of systems.
Must have three (3) years general experience performing structural analysis and load requirements to comply with Navy standards.
Specialized and General experience can be concurrent but must be recent within three (3) years.
Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
If individual does not have clearance yet, during the hiring process, they must attain INTERIM Secret by DAY ONE.
