About The Position

ReconCraft is seeking a Naval Architect – Early Career to join our team. This entry-level opportunity is ideal for a recent college graduate or an early-career professional with up to two years of industry experience who is interested in developing their career in naval architecture and marine engineering. The desired candidate will have a passion for planning craft development in a manufacturing environment. The candidate will join an existing in-house engineering team and work under the supervision of more experienced staff. Functional responsibilities will include preparation of weight estimates and weight monitoring, hydrostatics, stability analysis, hull form development, structural design, systems design, fixturing design, and bill of materials creation. The individual will apply rules-based guidance such as ABYC (American Boat and Yacht Council), ABS (American Bureau of Shipping), NAVSEA Guidelines, CE Requirements, and /or develop approaches to support project development and manufacturability for high-speed naval craft. The individual will support multiple product development programs and existing production lines simultaneously. Tasks may include performing calculations, analysis, functional design drawings, detail design drawings, 3-D modeling, presentations, and test procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability and willingness to adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
  • Commitment to safety rules.
  • Employee must be a "U.S. Person" as defined Code of Federal Regulations, Title 22, Section 120.15.

Nice To Haves

  • 3-D modeling experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support engineering team and customer projects, with a specific focus on structural design, systems design, materials selection, and fabrication approaches.
  • Create and develop designs, drawings, and related documentation for submittal to clients.
  • Create and develop shop fabrication drawings and bill of materials for both prototype and production builds.
  • Refine first-article or other designs through the “red line” process to capture improvements.
  • Facilitate solutions to relevant design-related production issues with project management and manufacturing personnel.
