About The Position

World Wildlife Fund (WWF), one of the world’s leading conservation organizations, seeks a Nature Finance and Investment Associate Intern. This is a unique opportunity to sit at the intersection of private capital and conservation, working on investments that drive measurable change across key sectors. The intern will be embedded within the team’s WWF Impact pillar and contribute meaningfully to live deal activity, pipeline development, and the advancement of our impact measurement framework. The role spans three core sectors: agriculture, circularity, and aquaculture and offers exposure to the full investment lifecycle, from sourcing and diligence through execution and portfolio monitoring. Depending on team deal flow and the intern's interests, there is potential to contribute to active transactions in aquaculture or food circularity, support our regenerative infrastructure work, and/or play a role in shaping our emerging asset manager partnership strategy.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an MBA program, with demonstrated interest in impact investing, sustainable food systems, or sustainable/conservation finance
  • Only enrolled students are eligible for this internship as you must be able to receive academic credit from your current academic institution.
  • Able to work either part time or full time, depending on class schedule and availability.
  • Prior experience in investment banking, private equity, venture capital, management consulting, or a related field
  • Strong financial modeling skills; experience with impact measurement frameworks a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex information for diverse audiences
  • Self-directed and intellectually curious, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment
  • Passion for WWF's mission and a genuine interest in the role of private capital in addressing environmental challenges

Responsibilities

  • Conduct primary and secondary research to identify and evaluate investment opportunities across WWF Impact's focus sectors. Synthesize market trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging innovations in the food system to surface actionable insights for the investment team. Prepare clear, well-structured materials summarizing top opportunities and key market dynamics.
  • Design and execute financial models to support investment evaluation, including return analysis, scenario planning, and sensitivity testing. Build and refine impact models that measure environmental and social outcomes in line with best practices in impact reporting. Research and synthesize leading frameworks and standards to inform WWF Impact's evolving approach to impact measurement.
  • Support active transactions through hands-on due diligence, including market sizing, competitive analysis, management assessment, and financial review. Contribute to investment memos and other deal materials. The team has active interest in aquaculture and food circularity deals, and the intern may work on live transactions in these spaces over the course of the summer.
  • Depending on team priorities and the intern's strengths, there may be an opportunity to contribute to NFI’s regenerative infrastructure work and/or support the development of our asset manager partnership strategy. This will include research, relationship mapping, and materials development for discussion with external prospective partners.
  • Work closely with subject matter experts across the WWF organization and with external partners, advisors, and portfolio companies. Represent NFI thoughtfully in cross-functional settings and contribute to a collaborative, mission-driven team culture.
  • Over the course of the summer, independently develop a research project on a topic of your choosing relevant to NFI/WWF Impact's mandate. Present findings to the team at the conclusion of the internship, demonstrating analytical rigor, original thinking, and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly.
