Nature-based Solutions Investments - Portfolio Manager

This remote position, requiring at least 4 hours of work within the North America Pacific time zone, is for a Nature-based Solutions Investments - Portfolio Manager. The role involves analyzing the bankability of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) Projects and Programs in developing countries, building Investment Readiness, overseeing the management and performance of a portfolio of NbS Projects, and supporting capital raising for the TB-NbS Fund.
Requirements
- Experience in the design, development and implementation of nature-based projects and programs in developing countries.
- Excellent excel modeling skills.
- Fluent Spanish or French speaker.
- Experience in building NbS project implementation budgets.
- Proficient in assessing the financial viability and business models of NbS projects.
- Demonstrated experience in managing investments and/or credit lines for NbS, agriculture and/or forestry projects.
- Knowledge of NbS emission reduction market standards and processes for generating verified emission reductions.
- Demonstrated experience in managing projects with a diverse set of partners to deliver on finance, social and environmental returns.
- Demonstrated experience in performance monitoring for projects and proposal development for complementary funding sources.

- Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
- Required second language: Spanish or French.
- A self-starter with proven ability to work independently but also in a multi-disciplinary remote team setting.
Responsibilities
- Analyze bankability of NbS Projects and Programs in developing countries.
- Build Investment Readiness for NbS projects.
- Oversee the management and performance of a portfolio of NbS Projects.
- Support capital raising for the TB-NbS Fund.
- Evaluate projects screened by the sourcing team and develop carbon eligibility assessments.
- Evaluate and document local laws and land tenure.
- Collect, analyze, and validate data and build detailed project budgets aligned with long-term workplans.
- Prepare investment models and analyze financial returns.
- Develop institutional arrangements for investments.
- Evaluate risks of VERRs reversals.
- Work with target investees to provide climate finance training and gather their inputs.
- Act as project manager, working with the technical team project manager, to deliver Carbon Eligibility Assessments.
- Support investees in building Investment Readiness, including policies, procedures, benefits allocation, community engagement, feedback mechanisms, fiscal management, and program operations.
- Conduct and manage investment due diligence.
- Prepare investment memos for the Investment Committee and present projects.
- Liaise with target investees to ensure commitment to the investment process and manage transactions to close.
- Source non-investment funds on behalf of target investees to enhance bankability.
- Prepare business terms and annexes for transaction documents.
- Oversee investees’ operational and financial performance in a hands-on manner.
- Provide business training and monitoring support to build the capacity of investee groups.
- Directly observe and oversee the delivery of business plans by investee projects and companies.
- Manage local implementing partners/project coordinators and technical consultants.
- Coordinate with Terra’s Investee Fiscal Manager for fund distributions, SPV management, and financial reporting.
- Ensure timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual project activity monitoring, financial, and ESG reports.
- Oversee and contribute to the development of verified emission reductions under market standards.
- Prepare quarterly performance reports for the Fund.
- Support lead generation for new investors in the TB-NBS Fund.
- Prepare follow-ups and due diligence materials for investors.
- Follow-up and secure new investors.
